Akame ga Kill!
The latter half was way better than the anime even just for the fact that it was way less rushed. There were a few things that had a bit more impact in the anime though like Esdeath's death, Akame's cutting herself before the transformation and even the minister's confrontation with Leone was a bit more iffy in the manga even though I liked the part of him being tortured to death. Of course the ultimate difference is Kurome surviving thanks to the ultimate Chad Wave. Their relationship in general was handled way WAY better in the manga. Same with Tatsumi and Mine's. Oh and Dorothea was fucking cute. Sucks she wasn't in the anime and had to die to Leona's bullshit here. 8/10 7/17/2020

Finally got to reading this mostly for Yin, and of course there's absolutely no Yin until the last page. :D
I'm sure she'll be in the sequel though so it should be fine.
Surprisingly enough I ended up enjoying at least the first volume quite a bit. Kana was likable and I didn't mind her whole story. Hei feels a lot like himself from the anime too. Not sure why they decided to scrap this story instead of adapting it. Could have fit in fine with maybe some tweaks for consistency.
Keep Kana and her father but have him work for irrelevant organization X and scrap the other plot elements then end it at volume 1. Could have been great.
Second volume was not that good though. Kanon was interesting but they pretty much ruined her.
And November 11 was way more of a dick here than in the anime. He was about to kill a random civilian because she tried to stop him from kidnapping a little girls. Amazing job 11. 7/10 overall 8/13/2020

The end. I was expecting more insanity regarding the ending to be honest but I guess it was still good. Not sure about Ganta's strength during that final battle though. Feels a bit empty. Glad Minatsuki survived though. She actually reminds me of Kurumi a little.
Crow had his badass moments. Could have had him die or not. Finally over after all these years.

Elfen Lied
At this point I'm tempted to say that the anime was better. Especially regarding Lucy related things. He backstory with Kouta was expanded on, they added the cool music box and the open ending was more satisfying that Lucy being dead and Kouta ending up with Yuka the fucking bitch. Definitely could have done without that even if the message at the end was a pretty nice touch. Yes her real name is Kaede and Lucy is just what the researchers started calling her because she's meant to be the first known ancestor of the new humanity. I'll keep calling her Lucy for now though. I guess those two twins at the end are meant to be separated Lucy and Nyu's reincarnations. Timeline can fit easily if it's been 10 years. Still have no idea what created Lucy because I'm not buying that something this specific was created as a random mutation from a normal human. If it has nothing to do with the prophecy or Kakuzawa's ancestors (which was a nice twist), that just opens up even more questions.
Anyway the manga also made Lucy way less likable by having her do things like kill Mariko and Bantou right after they had redeemed themselves. In exchange both of those characters ended up being way more developed and way more likable in the manga. Same with Nana who ended up being more interesting than Lucy half the time.
Kurama was very good in the manga up until he didn't kill himself after which he became kinda shit. Might have been better to let him die back then but that would mean no happy ending for Nana I guess. The manga also did some weird things at the very end like randomly resurrect Anna, that random bitch no one cares about and even Bantou. His death scene was really well done, super emotional and satisfying and now after 4 volumes they expect us to accept he somehow lives through that. Of course it's nice for Mayu but I don't know how I feel about it.
And like I said it looks like they reincarnated Nyu and Lucy but at the same time Kouta ended up with Yuka so Kaede's feelings didn't really get returned. Meanwhile in the anime it always seemed like Lucy was the one Kouta really loved even though it's kinda an open ending.
All in all I'd say anime for Lucy, manga for most of the other characters. The final stuff with Kaede was nice but the ending could have been way better. I'll still give it the same score though. 8/10 8/27/2019

I pretty much had to read this because they didn't adapt Anna's backstory in any of the movies and I was too curious. Longer than I expected. Definitely still nice. I finally learned what Anna's actual power is.

Kimi ni Todoke
Probably been 8 years since I first saw the anime and finally I decided to read this and see the story continue. Honestly my opinion of the new content is very similar to the one regarding the anime. The stuff with Sawako and Kazehaya's relationship is amazing and I can add anything related to Kurumi to that as well, but the story can get really mediocre when it focuses on the side characters. And a good chunk of the manga puts heavy focus on them.
Those parts still weren't horrible but they're nowhere near as good as the "main" story.
Sawako and Kazehaya's relationship continued to be great and I loved seeing it progress. In addition to that, one thing I absolutely loved that I didn't expect was Kurumi coming back and becoming friends with Sawako. Her development was really nice to see and I'm happy she's moved on and become a better person after everything. Her apologizing to Sawako was such a sweet moment as was their little comradery about going to college together. It would have been nice to see a little more of their lives actually there. Overall I'm glad I finally got to reading this and I'll give it the 10/10 4/17/2020

Kodomo no Jikan
The Shirai stuff was interesting for like 2 chapters but then it just got so fucking annoying with every other chapter being about her and her same problems. Literally all I care about at that point is Rin and maybe Usa a bit. Why are they ever not on screen???
Reiji also felt very different here than in the anime. I don't remember any of this wanting to marry Rin stuff but I guess by the end he got to the same place of just wanting to protect her. Ending was nice. Any other conclusion would have been infuriating after all the buildup. 8/10 9/16/2023

Mujaki no Rakuen
So it's finally over. I took a few months break after volume 6 so this journey felt longer than it was. I first discovered this manga by stumbling upon a slide of Rio looking stupidly cute and I immediately fell in love with the art. I watched short OVA series and moved onto the manga.
As I said back then, this premise is simply amazing and with the amazing art it was a recipe for success. Now the story a lot of forced ecchi moments which did get annoying at times when there was an emotional scene going on but on the other hand, some of them were very nice so I can't complain too much. Basically all the fanservice in this other than a few exceptions is featuring lolis so it's hard to go wrong there.
Still when the story got serious it was actually pretty good and there was some very nice romance with all the girls really. Which brings me to the characters. I've completely made up my mind by this point and Nako is 100% best girl. After her Konomi and Sayo are tied, followed by Rio and then Manatsu/Suzune.
If I was Shouta, I'd definitely focus my attention on Nako and probably join her dojo so I'd have an excuse to spend time with her. Of course that way we could also train and do things together.
Anyway other than her, Sayo came out of nowhere and suddenly jumped ahead of Konomi by being super cute, innocent and devoted so that was a pleasant surprise.
Meanwhile Konomi was pretty mysterious and her feelings were hard to figure out until the end although it looks like she did fall in love with Shouta at some point. The ending was very interesting and I did enjoy seeing how much Shouta's future had changed just by the relationships he developed while in the past.
I don't see much point in jumping to the future rather than just living out his life again.

With all that said, I'm gonna give this a 10/10 because of the art, because of Nako and an extra point because this is a loli manga.

Omamori Himari
Well I finally fucking did it my first manga done.
I obviously started reading this because I wanted to see more of Shizuku (my favourite character ever as I'm writing this (anime, manga,ln,vn,book,rl everything) and see what happened to her in the manga but I will say it was better than expected. The anime is a piece of shit cutting out all the good scenes with Shizuku and focusing on stupid shit I don't give a fuck about but here I got to see it all so fuck yea! Also here most of the characters actually had their actual reasons for liking Yuuto so I didn't even hate them or at least not nearly as much as I thought I would especially Kuesu and Rinko they were actually likable here unlike in the anime.
Now a huge plus was Yuuto himself. I'm not even calling him MC because he is fucking epic in this at times. God whenever something important is happening he does what needs to be done and looks epic while doing it. The anime made him out to be a piece of shit that I wanted to punch but this Yuuto is someone different entirely. The absolute main issue I have with this is that Himari takes up SO much screen time like in every single volume she gets at least 5 scenes I'd say focusing on her although she doesn't butt in if something not involving her that relates to the plot is happening so that's something.
Next I guess Tama and Shuten. They were both really good and I'm ok with how things turned out. Shuten got his time to act cool and Tama also ended up being more interesting then expected although some more screen time for her would have been nice. I did dislike that stupid part at the hot springs where she turns into that cow like creature but all's well that ends well. On to the main thing about this manga Shizuku <3 (yes a fucking heart symbol she's that awesome). God SO much better than the anime. It's like I like her more every time she shows up on a page. She actually has a personality here. Has her reasons for doing stuff. And with Yuuto not being a piece of shit here I actually don't mind seeing them together. Best parts were volume 6 and 10 and of course every single scene where Shizuku is the focus. The ending was decent enough to the point where it didn't piss me off as much as it could have but it didn't focus on Shizuku which is obviously stupid but under the circumstances I am happy it was at least left open so thank you for not making Himari straight up "Win" and leaving some room for imagination. Anyway I'm left a bit sad that it's over and that I know nothing more will be said but at the same time satisfied with what I got it was more than I ever hoped for when I decided to read this. 10/10 although it's my first manga so I am biased obviously but fuck it I can do whatever the fuck I want.
Also Shizuku FTW <3<3<3 12/28/2015

Prison School
Watched this pretty much right after the anime and it was a pretty faithful adaptation since the first part of the manga is basically identical to the anime so I just skimmed past most of it.
As for the rest, it got me hooked pretty quickly and I binged the whole thing in some 3 days.
Hana took the whole thing at the end of the anime way better than I thought she would and then had some incredibly cute scenes later on as well. She's still best girl but it's impossible to dislike Chiyo because of how adorable and nice she is. I was pretty much gonna be fine with MC picking her since it seemed extremely obvious that was going to be the conclusion although I would still feel sorry for Hana.
But then that fucking troll ending. Lolololololo.
I guess you could say Hana got the last laugh or at least made it a mutual destruction for all.
At the end of the day, the protagonist was 100% right when he said his whole relationship with Chiyo was based on a lie from the start.
He lied to her about the peeping and him being in the bath with her. Then with all the other perverted shit he did, she thought it was all done begrudgingly to help his friends or whatever but many of the stuff he was completely into or even brought upon himself like with the panty wearing. Chiyo always granted him the best possible interpretation whenever he did something and finding out he's been lying the whole time completely broke everything. The ultimate troll ending.
One more thing to mention. Mitsuko is fucking cute and the anime (and early manga art) doesn't do her justice. Although the whole situation at the end was absolutely retarded. Some random "Bitch-san" shows up out of nowhere, decides on the spot to start copying her so Gakuto would like her and he fucking goes along with it and has them compete for his affection.
And this is WHILE HE'S MEANT TO BE APOLOGIZING! Jesus H. Christ. I would have just said: "Dude you look nothing like her even if you do your hair like that, you're cow utters are too big, you're fake as fuck, way too forward and slutty. I like Mitsuko's smaller figure, darker hair and cute face which looks nothing like yours. Trying to superficially copy her isn't going to get you anywhere so kindly piss off and let me apologize to Mitsuko."
But the STUPID thing is, he had a perfect no-lose scenario for that last contest. If Mitsuko wins, you just play dumb, hug her and say "Fuck yea, I knew you'd win.". If she loses, you just explain that story, hug her and say: "Fuck yea, I knew you'd win".
Although the whole thing is worthless and he would have instantly picked her from the start and been insulted that "Bitch-san" would even suggest the contest in the first place. As if Gakuto's the fucking prize and he shouldn't be on his knees begging Mitsuko to forgive him.
Anyway, same score as the anime. 8/10

Rozen Maiden
My second manga. I originally read it to find out what happens after the 2013 anime ends. I thought the first season followed the manga and it only split off in the second one because the manga was ongoing but there is a lot of differences even in the first season.
A lot of things that were inconsistent in the anime are just done better here so I'm not sure why they bothered to change it, like with Suigintous awakening. In the anime we have no idea how she woke up and then later she is killed but is made again by Father or something as far as they said.
However in the manga none of this happens and she is wound up by Megu and just doesn't give her the ring until later so it's consistent that she doesn't have a medium at first.
The anime did expand on some things that were very brief in the manga like when Jun was going to buy those sweets for Hinaichigo so I'll give it that.
Also the story with Souseiseki was her master was completely different. I'm not even sure which I like more since this one was somewhat confusing but it's something to note. Here she also dies very early and doesn't end up living with Jun at all.
Also there's some extra scenes with Tomoe in the manga that weren't in the anime and she seems to be just more important and better developed here.
Like with her knowing Jun from before I don't even think it was mentioned in the anime and also they talked about school and her problems and stuff in the manga. I like her a lot more here overall.
One thing I didn't like in the anime or here was that whole thing where Juns mental problems just have to be presented in some supernatural way.
Like "His soul is locked away" or "he is in deep sleep and might never wake up" and fucking "He must open the door himself". Then that whole thing with the tree, I mean why can't they just leave them as real world problems and have him overcome them. The kinda did that anyway but I would prefer if they kept them completely out of that supernatural stuff.
I did not expect to see Kirakishou here, in fact I had no idea how far this manga would even go story wise so it was a pleasant surprise so see her in it.
Now I see where the 2013 anime connects. It shows a few thing from the end of this manga and continues from the 2008 manga I imagine.
So the last few volumes were basically and expansion of what I saw in episode 1 of 2013.
Interested to see how it goes and whether 2013 follows the manga completely or is liberal like the original anime. Either way going to read 2008 now to see where this goes. Hope Kirakishou can have a happy ending this time. . . 8/10 9/9/2016

Rozen Maiden (2008)
It took a while but I finally got around to reading the sequel. Just as expected, the first 4 volumes were pretty much identical to the anime except I think the anime even did some scenes better tbh. Obviously the fact that it's animated brings more life to it but the art in this manga is top tier so I still very much enjoyed it.
After that, the next few volumes focus entirely on Wound Jun and the Unwound gets pretty much nothing until the very end. Yes he technically shows back up for the last 3 volumes but other than his interactions with Tomoe and the fact of him protecting the doll he made, he is more or less worthless.
Really nothing about the unwound world is shown again and that was the interesting stuff about him in the first place. Not this support role where's he's in the background doing not much of anything. So yea, I was a bit disappointed we didn't get any more of that.
Unfortunately, Kirakishou also didn't appear until near the very end (yes she was technically in the background manipulating things but not "physically" there) but instead we got a good amount of Shinku being awesome. It's just impossible not to love her when she gets serious or starts showing her more caring side, both towards Jun and her sisters.
You really can't blame Unwound Jun for picking her, both in the anime and here. Which of course brings me to the ending and Jesus fuck this was one of the best endings ever.
After everything she's learned since being created, her final decision is to give a broken crying Kirakishou all of the Rosa Mysticas and let her win the Alice game. All this because she still loves her sister despite everything that's happened. Simply amazing. I absolutely love Shinku now. I am very much tempted to give her the best girl title but Kirakishou is just too damn cute so she gets to keep it.
Now the plan didn't actually work so Kirakishou gives up her own Rosa mystica instead so Shinku can escape which causes Shinku to become Alice and this time she sacrifices herself to revive all the other dolls including Kirakishou who ends up becoming the doll Unwound Jun made JUST LIKE I SAID should happen years ago when I first saw the 2013 anime. Unwound Jun wants a doll, Kirakishou wants a body and a master. It's not that difficult to piece together.
So yea, that ending was fantastic. Same with the flashbacks of the dolls past when they were all still being made. One more thing I didn't like was that I still have no idea why Rozen made it so they had to fight in the first place. That wasn't clearly explained even at the end.
Because that was the only way to make Alice I guess? Although it looks like he regretted it later based on what he said to Jun.
Last thing to mention, Megu taking her shoes off and then stepping all over Jun barefooted.
Thanks. I like Megu now <3

Having this many characters allowed for a few gems to pop up other than Takurou/Chizuru who are obviously the best couple and reason to watch/read, but at the same time there was so much boring shit with these characters that I don't give a fuck about which wasted time that could have been spent on Chizuru. It started getting really annoying because it would keep setting up scenes for her like Takurou coming to her room to hang out during the school trip or spending Christmas together but then completely skipping over them so we can watch Chiaki/Kana or Ryouko/Akagi do their routine for the 50th time. Thankfully Chizuru did finally get together with Takurou but it was at the end of the final volume leaving no time to see them date which is unfort because a lot of the other couples did and so much time was wasted. Still I'm glad I finally got to see Chizuru get her happy ending and also the conclusion to some of these other stories. 8/10
