Realistic martial arts manga laced with fan service and plenty of excuse to show off bits of the female body. Good for a light read.

Gantz starts out as a gorefest with crude application of 3d art and shallow characters and evolves into a gorefest with an awesome application of 3d. The gore can be tasteless at times (and by at times I mean all the time) but that helps reinforce the atmosphere. People die here, brutally and quickly. It doesn't matter if if its a main character or fodder, if the mangka decides you'd be killed off, you will be killed off. Adds tension to the fight scenes.

The bad part is its lackluster story telling and its absolutely horrid pace. It's worse than Bleach in pacing, and that's saying alot.

This is ranked among my top five. Fun characters, inventive setting that uses traces of "hard" sci-fi to create an awesome world. The characters are entirely lovable and their interactions with each other is fun to watch. A satisfying read for people who want a manga that avoids the usual cliche.

Bad publicity has made a lot of people weary of the series. Setting aside the questionable fan service, the themes in this are interesting, original and thoughtful. The characters a lovable and are easier to relate to. The art and color spreads are wonderful. Depending on your opinion of the fan service, it can be a plus or minus.

This is pretty near Guro. On the plus side the stories are original, the characters are unique and the art is incredibility detailed and anatomically correct. It laces "hard" sci-fi with outlandish premises to create entertaining scenarios.

The down side is the absolutely grotesque stories. Not for the faint hearted at all.

Not a manga but it still deserves a spot on my list. Notice the score I gave it, a 10. Not exaggerating here. The story is a standard revenge one but the presentation is absolutely awesome. The art is intricate and beautiful, characters are presented in a likable manner and the use of Korean legends in this make it a must read.

Nice little martial arts manga, the fight scenes thread the line between realistic and fantastically ridiculous.
