9 | ![]() | Cardcaptor Sakura Ahh, Cardcaptor Sakura. One of the first anime I've watched, and at a really young age that I barely remember what happened yet I still love it. I'm compelled to give it a high rating but I should really rewatch it because things that are great as a child wouldn't be as great as an adult but oh well. | 8 | TV | 70

11 | ![]() | Chobits Watched this at a younger age and remember being very, very confused at what the actual plot was. It started out very simply with the main focus being how cute the persocomms (if that's even spelled right) were and escalated into God knows what, I can't even fully remember. Will probably rewatch this again. | 6 | TV | 26

19 | ![]() | Durarara!! Was good as a whole but it left a lot of plot strings loose and unexplained and the ending was pretty anti-climactic and rushed. This probably means it would have a Season 2. Downloaded Episodes: 24 | 8 | TV | 24
20 | ![]() | ef: A Tale of Memories. Ef - A tale of Memories really reminds me of Kanon (2006) and Clannad. Both are extremely touching and depressing and have made me go through a whole tissue box because I cried so much. Downloaded Episodes: 12 | 9 | TV | 12
21 | ![]() | Elfen Lied Watched this at a relatively younger age so it was more or less a guilty pleasure to watch something so bloody and gory (and wow, they show breasts!!!), so this would also mean that the plot more or less escaped me. I would probably consider rewatching it again just to view it from an older, more mature perspective but from what I remember it was depressing and very very bloody, and it had just enough fanservice to keep the crowd happy enough. | 7 | TV | 13

24 | ![]() | Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood If I were to put Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood in a nutshell it would be 'masterpiece' - in every sense of the word. It is not without its faults but by far it's one of the few animes I've watched that I could consider life-changing. I first heard of FMA way back when anime was just starting to get more mainstream in the West, but the shounen genre never really interested me back then so I never thought much of it. And as I slowly grew to be more of an avid manga reader than an anime watcher, it was even less reason. FMA is and always will be considered an anime classic, but fans had always been divided between the anime and the manga, with the anime having mixed reviews about whether it was good enough as a stand-alone or it ruined because of it; as I've mentioned, I'm more of a manga reader, so I decided to read it to see what all the fuss was about. And the rest is history; however, with the release of FMA: Brotherhood, which is a more faithful adaptation of the manga, I suppose those who were fans of the manga could now see how much of a masterpiece the original work really was. Of course I already knew most of the story, and I would love to get a memory wipe so I could relive every glorious moment for the first time, but even with the knowledge of the events somehow it was still such a fantastic experience to watch. I'd say FMA hits a 10 at all the right spots - the complexity of its storyline, which is an endless web of pasts, and its characters, who are all somehow interconnected. What I loved most about FMA was that none of the characters were filler - they all had a story, most of them one of suffering, and all had reasons to live on or fight for revenge. FMA is probably one of the few animes that manages to make you feel sympathetic for all characters involved, especially the villains. At 64 episodes one could expect a lot of filler, but no episode is wasted - some may call the plot slow-moving, but I saw it as realistic, and all an intense build-up to the grand finale where you feel as if you've gone on this incredible journey with them, and you're finally prepared to face the final judgement. I watched FMA: B first because I didn't want to ruin the magic of the original story, but now I feel brave enough to attempt to watch FMA. FMA will always be a classic, one that everyone needs to watch at least once. It's a tale of friendship, family, loss, vengeance, grief, and most of all, hope. Not enough words can be said, but just one will suffice - masterpiece. | 10 | TV | 64

38 | ![]() | Junjou Romantica Junjou Romantica is one of those one-shot-per-episode anime - this just means it doesn't have an actual plot. Once the characters' roles had been well established the actual relationship development can take place; they have arguments and misunderstandings, but by the end of each episode they would have resolved it. I suppose JR was a nice break from all the anime that left you with a cliffhanger per episode. It did tend to get repetitive but not tedious enough that I would stop watching. It's the sort of anime that's nice to rewatch simply because every episode has it's own story, and isn't connected to the other episodes, which means you can just watch one episode without bothering with the rest. Perhaps I'm too used to yaoi manga being explicit but JR wasn't graphic in any sense; I'd even call it shounen-ai because they only kiss and that's all you'll see. Good anime; not great, but not bad either. | 6 | TV | 12

48 | ![]() | Kuroshitsuji Good series, wasn't excellent but the art was pretty. Random comedy was a love-it/hate-it thing, because at times it was out of the blue and made me laugh yet sometimes it just destroyed the dark mood already set. This series was ruined for me because I watched season 2. I felt season 1's ending wasn't completely closed (more or less open for interpretation and to the viewer's ideas on how they wanted it to end) but closed enough that a sequel would just ruin it if not executed properly -- precisely what happened. Downloaded Episodes: 24 | 7 | TV | 24
49 | ![]() | Kuroshitsuji II More or less ruined the Kuroshitsuji experience for me. I watched Season 2 more or less straight after Season 1 and was a bit reluctant because I felt Season 1's ending wasn't really open for a sequel. It wasn't bad in the beginning, but everything pretty much went downhill from there. There was just enough fanservice to keep my inner yaoi fangirl happy but in terms of the whole plot, everything was just full of WTF and the cast just had too many freaks and weirdos for my taste. The ending was abrupt yet left open, which kind of pisses me off because Season 2 was obviously just a move to continue milking the cash cow, and the fact that Season 3 might already be in the making is just... Whoever's considering watching Kuroshitsuji, stick to Season 1. Season 2 ruins everything. Downloaded Episodes: 12 | 4 | TV | 12

52 | ![]() | Lovely★Complex The thing that attracted me the most to Lovely Complex was the actual concept - a tall girl and short boy together. The title is so appropriate I'd give it a 10 just for that. The comedy, of course, is the main thing I liked the most about this anime, along with the protagonist's interactions. As their relationship progresses things start to become a little complicated, and they fall in love but not before a few trials etc etc. The negative aspect, perhaps, is that their whole 'courtship phase' was a little too dragged-out for my taste - I started to dislike Otani because he just couldn't get the point, and started to wonder why Risa was putting so much effort for him anyway. The ending also seemed a bit anti-climactic; after they got together it seemed that that was that. Still, good for laughs. Downloaded Episodes: 24 | 8 | TV | 24

59 | ![]() | Nodame Cantabile Finale So many NC seasons that I tend to confuse all of them - not even sure if this is the right season, but anyway (not that it really matters since I've seen all of them) I got extremely disappointed with the ending, not in the sense that it was left hanging (with 3 seasons you'd think they'd have covered everything) but because there was a huge build-up over a situation that, in the end, didn't actually happen. When I watched the last episode I felt like I'd been deprived of something that I can't even describe; kind of like watching someone bake a chocolate cake, looking so forward to eating it, then suddenly it's given to someone else or chucked straight at the bin. The series itself was fine; the relationship between Chiaki and Nodame was developed further blah blah blah all that jazz, but that ending was pretty crap. Downloaded Episodes: 11 | 7 | TV | 11
60 | ![]() | Nodame Cantabile: Paris-hen Much like I feel about the Nodame Cantabile series in general - it's nice, but I felt that it didn't really go anywhere. Yes, they went to Paris and succeeded in doing things but that was it - perhaps that's the reason it got dragged to 3 seasons. Downloaded Episodes: 11 | 7 | TV | 11

64 | ![]() | Pokemon Lol not entirely sure if I watched all 276 episodes of this, but I'm sure I watched a good bulk of it. Pokemon is one of those shows that's timeless and everyone knows about it - anyone who owned a television between the 90's and now should, at least. The main focus is the adventures of Ash Ketchum and his friends as they battle with the different gym leaders to earn badges and God knows what. Who cares, all I know is that Ash is everyone's best friend and Pokemons are cute. Perhaps the only negative aspect of Pokemon is that they're milking it for all it's worth - even now. The new pokemon are crap though, and it's not the same without the old cast of characters. | - | TV | 276
65 | ![]() | Psycho-Pass Ah...where do I start with Psycho-Pass. It's a pretty new anime, not even a year since it finished airing; I watched this straight after watching 'Zetsuen no Tempest' with no expectations, and boy was I in for a rough ride. The biggest difference between the two (and there are barely any similarities, I'm comparing them simply because I watched them back-to-back) is that what ZnT tried to make viewers see/feel, is what P-P managed to do seemingly without even trying. P-P is unpretentious in every sense of the word - it does exactly what it says on the tin, and it does it so well that I was left reeling and hanging on desperately as the show was going 100mph. P-P starts off as your typical crime-solving series with a different case per episode, with a small subplot discreetly running on the background; you get introduced to the characters, and I suppose another of its major points is that all of the characters had something to offer. Even the supporting characters had personality - nothing worse than characters made useless and pointless with no other purpose in the story but for their relationship/use to the main players. I've always been a fan of distorted utopian/dystopian universe, and P-P fills this quota perfectly; it's not a unique plot, but it does it in a flawless, plausible way, in the sense that a supposed robotic society run by a 'god-like' central brain will never be as advanced as the human mind, and will always be vulnerable to humanity - which the anime also takes on effortlessly. Another plus on animation/artwork, the characters all look distinctive from each other albeit the stereotypical looks e.g. small girl, tall cool guy, megane, older man, ice girl, jokey redhead...but I digress. Quite a few fight scenes that were smooth. Perhaps one thing that might put people off is the explicit violence; P-P doesn't hesitate to pull its punches with the blood and gore, which may not be for the faint of heart. The first scene left me pretty shocked but as the trainwreck analogy goes, you don't want to see it but you find it impossible to look away; in a way I also see it as a good thing, the brutality of life and human nature is something that is very much part of reality and is not something we should look away from and ignore. P-P tackles a lot of societal ethics, but does it in a way that you have to look at both sides - humanity and morality are not black and white, and funny as it is to say that I learned a lot from an anime, I really did. I hesitate to say the series ended on a cliffhanger, because it doesn't have to be - after reading the wiki page apparently it was ended as 'open to interpretation', which I agree with. However, a second season is in the works, which I am shitting myself in excitement with, and fingers crossed it will be as good as the first one. So far, it's shot itself up to one of the best animes I've ever watched. Couldn't recommend it enough. | 10 | TV | 22
66 | ![]() | Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan Rurouni Kenshin was probably one of the first anime I've watched; it holds a special place in my heart, and I can't believe it has 95 episodes. I can't really remember what happened in the series but I have a vague idea of all the arcs, and I can safely say that RK is a masterpiece - the characters, the setting, the music are all excellent. I'm not desperate to watch it again for the simple reason that it's really long (for my standard, anyway), but I would recommend it to anybody. | 8 | TV | 94
67 | ![]() | Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Seisou-hen Cried like a bitch more or less throughout the whole thing. 79 | ![]() | Special A Good for laughs. For some reason, I liked the manga more, but the anime was a little bit funnier. Also, I find it funny that Aoi was the bad guy in the anime when in the manga, he was a pretty good guy. I guess my slight Aoi bias was a little displeased haha. But still, definitely worth watching, but the manga is great too. Downloaded Episodes: 24 | 7 | TV | 24

89 | ![]() | Zetsuen no Tempest Eh...how can I put this. I watched this since the reviews seemed really positive and I was surprised to see it compared to Code Geass, probably my most favourite anime, so I suppose its downfall was that my standards were unrealistically high, because, well, it failed to deliver. I'll cover the positive points; the art/animation, in my opinion, is pretty stunning, but then again it is a new anime so I suppose that's expected, but I did like how pretty all the characters were. But that's pretty much where the positives end...? I hate to be so harsh but I found this anime pretty pretentious - it's trying to be something that it isn't. I can see where the Code Geass comparison came from but (semi-spoiler ahead) ZnT is about what...1/8th of what Code Geass was about? Basically, they both have the premise of saving the world, but it didn't feel like anything more than a backstory with ZnT, so I wasn't really feeling the gravity of the situation? Instead, it was focused on (IMO) relationships which in hindsight is even more of a ridiculous notion than when I was watching the anime. I say pretentious because it's like watching a sappy romance story disguised as a mecha anime, except it doesn't even try all that hard with its disguise; in the end, even if they try to make the mecha side of the story as serious as possible, the fact that it's pushed to the backburner in favour of the 'love story' will always be glaringly obvious and will overshadow everything else. Also, it annoyed me how it gave me a few jump-scares and yet never delivered afterwards; jump-scare for the sake of a cliffhanger. Added to that, it used so many popular anime tropes that I saw its 'big shockers' from about a mile off. I mean c'mon now. In conclusion, I think if I'd watched this without expectations, I would enjoy it more. That said, if I watched this as a comedy, I think it'd be an even better experience. | 6 | TV | 24
