Very similar absurdist childish comedy style. Both center around random antics and in particular those in relation to the characters peculiar lives, often exaggerating otherwise completely normal situations. Both are filled with characters who seem balls deep within the absurdity of their universe. Common sense does not appear to be anyone's forte in either series, other than the obligatory straight men (or straight women). Though the characters in Naruto SD are technically teenagers, their chibi appearances gives them a very child-like look. Shin-Chan is fully episodic, where as NSD has something of a continuity with characters and plots introduced which are referenced or continued later,
