I want to do something similar too. Go thru the series again and analyze even the small details, stuff like that. Sonny Boy is on the list of anime that I need to give a bigger note in my lists, but I'm too lazy.

Hi there, finished Sonny Boy some weeks ago, I don't feel specially smart but I really like how it brings many topics into conversation, enjoyed the messiness of it and the opened interpretations as the ending, but I was searching for some closure I guess, found you on the ending discussion, I wanted to read what else people took from that, and I get is mostly open to interpretation, but I feel your take is the most logical-objective one, also I'm not into ships but I kind want to believe Nozomi and Nagara had something good going on, I mean, as for the series story telling goes, the possibility of it.

It's a really good standalone work, but I wouldn't mind some other entries, since the world of Sonny Boy is so vast and has so many stories to offer for spin-offs. Nozomi was a very important character that contributed a lot to the story and development of the rest of the cast. I really liked Nagara, Mizuho and Yamabiko, really good characters and loved their dynamics and chemistry overall. Can't forget about Rajdhani, he was a nice addition to the story and it wouldn't been the same without him. I can't really point exactly which episodes were my favorites, the anime needs a rewatch for a more accurate answer, but I really liked Yamabiko backstory. This has to be my favorite scene tho.


Edit: I'm surprised more people didn't talk about this anime. I've probably seen it once or twice when it was airing, but after that I don't think I've seen it anywhere else. The reason I've added this anime to my PTW list, it was because of the OST that I've seen on youtube a few months ago.

I've completed my binge successfully, finished Sonny Boy shortly after I left that comment. It had very thought provoking art direction, amazing artstyle, wonderful cast, really nice pace, loved the jump from episode to episode. I really liked the last episode and see Mizuho and Nagara back in their world and hear their thoughts on it. Sonny Boy is the type of series I would want more from, but it already done enough and feels accomplished. You never know what the producers are up to and I don't mind more Sonny Boy, since this series has so much to offer, but I don't mind if it remain just 1 title like we have it now. This anime was really great and is what I consider a modern masterpiece. This has to be Natsume Shingo's best work so far with phenomenal direction and writing. For now I'll keep it at 10, might be the same as with Bocchi the Rock!, I’ve gave it a 10, but dropped to a 9 a while after due to recency bias(probably not, but hey, who knows?). Even as 9, both series are really good and some of my favorites. What characters were your favorites and what was your favorite episode?

Really loving the art direction and overall atmosphere the anime gives so far. It feels like every episode is a step forward, but the goal goes 2 steps ahead too, if that makes any sense. I’ll probably binge the rest of it today since it’s so enjoyable and interesting, I’ll let you know what I think about it then.

After I watched the first episode of Sonny Boy going in blind, I’ve read a bit of your review and I’m really looking forward to this anime. Interesting so far, hopefully won’t let me down.
