How I rate anime:
10/10: This is where anything that I'm confident in saying that it's a masterpiece gets rated. I absolutely loved everything that anime had to offer and it captivated me to the point where I couldn't stop watching/ couldn't wait for the next episode! The show is seemingly flawless, and if there were flaws, they were so minor that I didn't notice or care about. However, the biggest factor that compels me to rate anything a ten out of ten is if I felt that it achieved everything that it wanted to become. However, I will also rate something a 10/10 just for the memes if it simply does everything that's in the title and ONLY what's described in the title ;)
9/10: The show is ALMOST a masterpiece, but due to very minor issues, it JUST misses being one. Those issues could be one of that the art or animation could have been ever so slightly better, minor plot holes that can almost be forgotten about, situations resolved with ridiculously obvious plot armor, or a slightly underwhelming ending that left more questions than answers. Still, I absolutely loved almost everything about this anime and I couldn't stop watching/ couldn't wait for the next episode!
8/10: The show lived up to its potential and was very entertaining to watch. However, the reason why it wasn't rated higher was that it noticeably could've done a couple minor things better. Also, I enjoy anything I rate an eight out ten a lot, but there's always something missing that just stops it from completely enthralling me like something rated higher.
7/10: The epitome of a good, entertaining anime that could've been something more. There's some pretty noticeable problems with it that prevents the show from becoming something excellent, but the potential it just missed achieving was clearly there. Despite the issues it had in just falling short of it's potential, I still found it entertaining enough to look forward to each episode.
6/10: The show is decent but not anything special. It's entertaining to watch, but it doesn't really have much about it that stands out amongst the rest. Plus, there's usually noticeable issues that are hard to ignore. In other words, this where I rate things that are the most painfully average.
5/10: Shows that I give this rating to are usually in a weird spot. Most of the time when I rate a show a five out of ten, it's usually because it's fundamentally a big mess, but it still manages to be pretty entertaining despite that. Seeing a dumpster fire burn can be pretty fun sometimes. On the contrary, shows given this rating can also be fundamentally not too bad, but they suffer from being so boring that you can fall asleep just by watching it. So to speak, solid foundations are good for making houses, but if the house itself isn't attractive than very few people will want to buy it.
4/10: This is where I start rating shows that I believe are truly bad. I didn't enjoy the anime for the most part and/ or there's major problems with the show. However, it still has it's rare good moments here and there.
3/10: Now we're getting into territory where the anime is so appalling in one of the two major categories (art & animation/ story & characters) that you start questioning how the show was even allowed to release in that state. If it's on the side of abominable characters and story, the show usually leaves me befuddled over what transpired and even a little ticked off. On the other category of godawful art and animation, it's got to be bad enough where it disgusts me just by looking at it. The only reason why the show was saved from being rated even lower is that the other of the two major categories is at least somewhat competent enough for me judge that not everything about it is totally awful.
2/10: EVERYTHING about the show is terrible. It fails to accomplish anything that it tries to be good at. However, you can at least forget about it once you've finished watching/ dropped it.
1/10: Burn it to the ground. Blow it up in a nuclear explosion. Stay away from it like it's the plague because all who dares watch this will be scarred for life! You will find zero joy in watching anything I give this rating to. All there is to see here is a never ending hurricane of cringe and throe, and those feelings will stick with you even after you're done witnessing such an abomination! So, basically whatever's rated a one out of ten fails disastrously at everything that it tries to achieve while also managing to make me feel revolted.
My favorite genres:
1. Fantasy. Isekai also falls under this but it doesn't matter if it's isekai or not. I'm addicted to fantasy settings and I don't know how to quit! Even if there's a million problems with the show, I'll still most likely find something about a fantasy that's enjoyable to me.
2. Action. Nothing is more entertaining then action packed fights! However, action anime HAS to have great animations or else mediocre animations can kill the enjoyment factor of the show.
3. Ecchi. Embrace the debauchery and let it corrupt your soul! I guess you can also add the harem genre to this as ecchi's without harems are pretty rare. Despite that, I hate how the protagonist is usually a clueless or cowardly idiot in harem anime. Very few ecchi/ harem protagonists are actual alpha chads that don't hide his/her feelings or perversion.
4. Romance. Specifically romance with a supernatural element. For some reason I'm mostly not into vanilla romance unless there's a strong comedy element involved. However, if there's supernatural characters or elements, that'll probably hook me on a romance because of it being a situation that will never happen outside of fiction.
