Remember when Funimation dubbed it back then and made it the funniest thing ever? Good times, right?
But while Shinchan is still going in Japan, all dubbing efforts seem to have ceased entirely since about 2011. There were multiple other attempts before Funimation got their crack at it, but none of which seemed to take off as well.

All we got of Shinchan in the west in recent times are a few localized games on Switch, that felt like last-minute decisions.

What happened here?

I'm not confident Doraemon or Detective Conan will get more dubs, let alone Crayon Shin–chan.

I don't see it happening. I think it's probably too long and doesn't have enough western appeal to be worth the time it'd take to dub all the episodes. Unless they go all out and do a parody/gag dub like before.

Doraemon is a no go, due to how bad the Disney dub was (It was a literal mackre in the 2010's), Conan is too long to dub even halfway even for BD releases, the costs would exceed $1000 for a BD set, Shin-chan is kind of forgotten nowadays.

In Germany, we actually got some new episodes dubbed after like 20 years! But im not sure if it will sell well... they also release Chibi Maruko-chan right now so maybe the publishers are finally dipping their toes into the long runners?
Trying to watch all available anime series so you won't have to anymore, the list of anime I can recommend is still in progress, tho

I mean there is already lots of western family comedy around, so apart from being long, it aims for an oversaturated market segment.
I for one would have no desire to watch it in any dub, unless I knew what sets it apart from Family Guy or The Simpsons for example?

(In case it is really special, I might watch up to 200 episodes. As I can tell from past experience with other comedy titles, the characters will have gotten stale and the jokes unfunny by that point. That's not the fault of the title getting worse, it's because it always stays the same...)

Episodes and movies are still being dubbed in Spain. If I remember correctly, the 29th movie was recently released and there are 960 dubbed episodes. Shin Chan is a cult series here.

» Shin Chan did prove to show that even Japanese works can have very ugly designs.
