Umineko is deep and profound anime. Even if it is hard to understand, it has a lot to tell you. Even if you do not get it, it actually gets you very well.

I can eve joke here that in Soviet Russia VN understands you.

Ofc but once you read the manga you notice the story and every single character is the goat, if you haven't read the manga make sure to. I also hate the adaptation and the characters here, it's one of the worst productions of all time as it adapts half of the story which should be illegal

It is better to start studying this franchise with a visual novel, preferably with higurashi, and then move on to umineko. Although you can start with the manga umineko, but it's better, as I wrote above - the overall picture becomes much more extensive.

my dude, this didn't cover everything. It just covers the first half of the story. I can guarantee you that everything is explored in the other half, I'm talking about why characters behave like they do and what is the truth behind everything. There's a lot of heart put into it. You can't ignore the heart :)

All in all, if you play the VN or read the manga for the full story, it all makes more sense, the pieces fit. And that is true for the characters.

I don't agree with the explanation of the metaworld. That's okay, as things like that and Ange's whole journey are left ambiguous (like what really happened or what do they mean).

For me, it really is just part of the story. Something really happened in Rokkenjima, and these are just stories based around that. So, in these stories anything can happen. It's more about what the writers of these stories wanted to say.

As for the witches, I'm not sure. Anyway, I'm not gonna say more because this post is for the anime that only covers the first half. The second half makes everything clearer, but maybe not everyone here has seen it. And I won't just spoil the whole thing here.

Umineko is tad too complex to completely explain it in any article.

@Pyromisl Well they are not CGDCT kind of likable characters, but this is a different kind of story.

This tells a story of a family full of problematic people. The show tries to not only analyze them, but also understand how it all ended up this way.

Characters are not likable, but at the very least you can understand why they ended up like that. Understand, not forgive. Their own suffering cause them to cause suffering to others. Circumstances of their lives push them to the edge and massacres begin.

They may be rich outwardly, but their lives are far from enjoyment of their wealth. Far from it, among other things they struggle to keep money flowing and constantly fight the world and each other for money.

Most of them have unfulfilled and flawed personal lives as well.

And one more things. They do remind me of my own relatives. So I can kind of relate to what is going on. It was also a somewhat rich family full of problematic people as well as stress and abuse. Money was also more precarious then outsiders could tell.

Would you call my unlucky with parents because of that?
