Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru.

When Leoleshea, a dragon god, is accidentally awoken from her sleep within a glacier, she demands this era's very best game player be brought before her. After a year of waiting, she meets Fay Theo Philus, an apostle—a human granted a supernatural ability called an Arise and thus given permission to challenge the gods in games. Fay and Leoleshea realize they share a passion for games, whether it be with cards or a battle of wits with a god. Declaring that she likes this human, Leoleshea allows Fay to call her "Leshea" and team up with her to play in the gods' games.

Ever since the gods gave humans the ability to challenge them, they have promised to grant any wish after ten victories. Leshea desires to become an official god again, as she previously descended to the human world and lost her status as a divine being. Fay has only one goal: to find the woman who long ago taught him how to play games.

Though Leshea and Fay quickly prove themselves to be a capable team, the gods will not allow them ten victories so easily: every game has its own unique conditions and hidden rules. Together, the duo will have to act as a perfect team to finally achieve their goals.

Final verdict - average across the board, but not in a terrible way

A lot of the reviews here are quite dissenting so I'll offer an alternate perspective. From the fast food anime industry comes another mid banger 'Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru'. A story about how, in a futuristic world, humans must play games against Gods and win. If you win 11? games you get to make any wish you want!

Now if you compare this to classics like CoTE and NGNL you are bound to hate this show with a passion. This show, much like a $3.99 McDouble is meant to let you switch ... off your mind and satiate your appetite for low quality but somewhat filling content. Contrary to opinion there *is* some level of thought going into the challenges, just not a lot. The plot twists are predictable and the character development and interaction is pretty bland, however unlike other shows this season such as Banished Former Hero, this does art and animation much better.

Still not sure why this is tagged ecchi though, as I am yet to see a whole tiddy or pantsu and we are already 4 episodes in.

If you need to take a break from some of the better, more emotionally invested shows airing this season, sit down, switch off your brain, and put an episode of Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru on.

In a season filled with delightful surprises, this anime is a major letdown.
I'll be piecing crumbs of what I could bear to retain in the 'Think-Pudding' up in my head, so yeah....

Let's start with the protagonist.
He embodies what we know as the "simp" character; blushing at the slightest hint of cleavage, striving to be the good guy, justice for all, and so on. However, this portrayal fails to give him any real individuality. Amd while I appreciate a show that allows a protagonist to shine, I dislike it when the narrative force-feeds us their virtues. Allow the audience some space to discover ... these qualities on their own, dang it.
And then there's the incessant praises, 'Oh, that honest side is what I like about you', it becomes tiresome right from the start. Despite being depicted as a popular and talented individual, he ultimately comes across as a bland and uninspiring lead.

Then there's the goddess or whatever.
Frankly, the "loli" goddesses we've seen in other anime are far more convincing than this one. Her demeanor and dialogue are indistinguishable from a typical high school girl dabbling in magic tricks, and none of her grand displays leave any impact whatsoever.

The anime frequently resorts to information dumps, narrating every little detail, even those unrelated to the immediate scene, through dialogue or monologue. It fails characterize the cast, making even the milfs seem like teenage girls. There's no variation in tone or demeanor to differentiate them, just different character designs and voice actors.

In summary, my expectations were low, but I still hoped for a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, I was left unimpressed, especially by the animation.

I wanted to give it a chance. I watched as many as 4 episodes and then raised the white flag. Animation slightly below average. Personalities and dialogues as deep as a puddle. The plot is painfully predictable. A completely generic MC who blushes at the sight of a bit of flesh and looks away as if he's never seen the opposite sex. His wish after winning all this prize from the Gods is so completely hopeless compared to what he could wish for, that I was a little choked up when I heard it. Cute girls are introduced to be cute - that's all. As ... if that wasn't enough, the beginning and the end of this "spectacle" are crowned with an opening and ending that are as good as the MC - that is, they are absolutely sexless and unforgettable. Generally, I didn't set the bar too high and I was still disappointed. A seasonal filler who is hard to earn even this rank.
