Both animes center around music and the majority of the main cast is female. The characters from each anime have obstacles to surpass in order to reach their goal, which was winning their respective competitions. And if you like a bit of shoujo ai, both have some of it.

Shows with predominantly female casts in which the lead characters aspire to do something unusual or bold out of a desire to "shine" or stand out from the norm.

Not only because both series are about a group of girls becoming Idols, but both Cinderella Girls and Sunshine are alternative settings in their respective Idol Franchises (iM@S and Love Live, respectively). A new beginning after the end of their main series. Also, there's more similarities between both of them: -Both series involves a special thematic: CG uses a sort of "Cinderella Analogy" in the series, while Sunshine involves the sea thematic. -Both series begins with the main character (Uzuki / Chiika) convincing her new friend (Rin / Riko) to become Idols. Also, a tomboyish girl (Mio / You) joins in. -Both series have too much similarities about  read more

Both animes are about schoolgirls, who are doing music in a school club. K-On is definitively more rocking than the normal Love Live stuff. But Love Live! Sunshine!! has the concurrent idol group Saint Snow, who definitively knows how to rock. Therefore if you like K-On for the rock music or you think, Saint Snow is the better school idol group, than you schould watch the respective other show!

The two shows take place near the beach and focus on a club of girls. The protags are very similar and meet a girl on the beach and yeah.

Both anime are about idols and their hardships. It gets pretty angsty at times with their problems but they always got to overcome it with their own way! Both anime have a deep meaning about how failures isn't a bad thing and you can move on from it! If you liked one, you will like the other!

They both have very similar flow-y animation along with the similarity of being by the ocean. Both anime's have cute bubbly characters and a strong friendship vibe. There's also a similar aura/atmosphere between both that's light heart-ed and cute.

Both have the same director, both have odd and off-kilter senses of humor, both have a character who is trying way too hard to be cool, both have dramatic scenes at aquariums, both involve a giant insect that devours people whole. (The centipede in Mushiuta, Sunrise in love live)
