To be honest, this is a case where I prefer the spin-off over the original. One of the largest complaints people have with TenSura is how overpowered the protagonist quickly gets. Trinity in Tempest, on the other hand, has protagonists that are only slightly above average, and it's all the better for it. Trinity is definitely a companion to TenSura - if you go into this without knowing what's going on in the main series, you'll probably be confused by some of the plot points or feel that things are glossed over.

But where this spin-off shines is giving a spotlight to the side characters without losing the fantasy action feel of the original work. While Phos is the only new character who is really fleshed out, she and her friends are mostly there to give us the perspective of the more normal citizens of Tempest during peacetime and some of the crazier events of the main series.

At the end of the day, TenSura is a story about a man trying to create a utopia. And while the story of creating that utopia is an interesting one, for me, the story of those who get to live in that utopia - those who have to deal with the fallout when the gods fight around them - that's the more interesting story. And even if you don't find the simple slice of life stuff enjoyable, it definitely helps give more weight and meaning to when you start reading about the actors on bigger stage once you've seen how their actions affect the little guys.

Honestly, I just read this just to see if there's a added content on how Tempest works. As a Non LN reader, there's just too many questions I have regarding Tempest, and this spinoff clearly delivers and satisfy my curiosity.

So, if you want to know more about world building, different scenes that happening behind or in parallel the main series this is a good to read.

I'll give one example of simple things address by this, remember at Rimuru's Ascension as a Demon lord, we can't see Youm and his men, Eren, Kabal and Gido at the scene. This is both on manga and in anime, now trinity address those and explains that magicules density are higher than a normal human could handle, hence they are not in there.

Overall, since the story is around the 3 girls from different majin, we get a glimpse of how other demon lords domain works too. Which is really good
