Actual kino. None of that boring mainstream bullshit for pseudointellectuals. Manga that you pick up, read, and think "that was fucking awesome/cute/silly/depressing".

(This title is obviously a joke enjoy what you enjoy this shit is just stuff that's stuck with me the hardest!)
Jigoku no Alice
Manga, 6 vol, 2010 Me:- Author:10
Alice in Hell is a wonderful hidden gem of a manga. Matsumoto Jiro's gritty, sketchy artstyle perfectly encapsulates the desert wasteland this manga is set in. Everything is dirty and covered in marks, from the walls of derelict buildings to the weapons our characters use. Alice in Hell has such a simple and straightforward plot, but the way it's done is so masterful and leaves you completely satisfied by the end of it.
Beastars
Manga, 22 vol, 2016 Me:- Author:10
Beastars is shonen at its best. For me, shonens can get boring quickly. Beastars changes this by dropping the usual Monster of the week approach and taking a firmer stance on worldbuilding and developing its characters. Worldbuilding is a HUGE factor as to why its successful. Legosi is the best protagonist in all of manga.
Onanie Master Kurosawa
Manga, 4 vol, 2007 Me:- Author:10
Don't judge a book by its cover. Seriously.

OMK is an amazing manga about a boy who jerks off in a girls bathroom after school. You read that right. That's the premise. And it's kino.

I do see this as a filter. That premise filters out the unappreciative and those who aren't willing to read through to the very end, and those people don't deserve OMK.

OMK deals with growing up, puberty, bullying, and ones own growth. Its about high school, and how kids deal with high school. I highly recommend this if you're looking for good drama.
Franken Fran
Manga, 8 vol, 2006 Me:- Author:10
Franken Fran is an excellent manga for anyone with a twisted sense of humour. Whilst being gory and horrific, Franken Fran has a fun and very odd cast of monsters and freaks. The very gory, ironic and cruel humour is maybe a bit niche, but I believe Franken Fran tops the horror genre for me.
Aku no Hana
Manga, 11 vol, 2009 Me:- Author:10
Aku no Hana is as unsettling as it is fascinating. Shuzo Oshimi is a master at making the most pathetic, loser protagonists into interesting and deep characters that we somehow end up rooting for. Aku no Hana has some of the best character drama in all of fiction in my opinion, and it's the greatest example of Shuzo Oshimi's uncomfortable yet addictive style of writing.
Gantz
Manga, 37 vol, 2000 Me:- Author:10
Gantz is action manga at its peak. Not only does it have the best battles and fights in manga (The Osaka Arc still hasn't been topped. I doubt it ever will), but the character development seen in this manga is brilliant. Due to its length, many may get quickly irritated by the protagonist, Kei Kurono, and other "annoying" side characters like Nishi. But Gantz develops these characters in a realistic and satisfying way, even for a manga as absurd as this.

Kei Kurono's development from horny dickhead teenager to the leader of humanity is glorious, and it spans a 300+ chapter manga of constant violence and excitement.
Houseki no Kuni
Manga, 13 vol, 2012 Me:- Author:10
HNK is like if you combined AOT and Steven Universe, but somehow made that combination Actually good. Houseki no Kuni is a brilliant fantasy manga that focuses very heavily on its main character - the brittle and weak Phos.

Phos is also one of the greatest MCs in fiction, just under Legosi because his full story hasn't quite gotten to the end yet. If you've ever heard of the Ship of Theseus paradox, you'll definitely appreciate the way this manga approaches the question;

"If you replace every part of something, is it still the same thing, or is it now something entirely new?"
Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou
Manga, 6 vol, 2014 Me:- Author:10
Girls Last Tour is almost as good as Shimeji Simulation for me, but I prefer the SS girls a little more - but that doesn't mean GLT is bad at all. Absolutely amazing for the same reasons as shimeji simulation, tkmiz is an astonishingly good artist.
Asper Kanojo
Manga, 12 vol, 2018 Me:- Author:10
Romance at its peak.

The true reason for this ranking though is the appreciation I have for the authors approach to neurodivergency. As someone with autism (don't laugh at me, you're probably just as retarded if you're reading this), the female lead is incredibly relatable and sympathetic. Asper kanojo portrays the very real struggle of mental illness, and its an absolutely adorable look at two people who might not fit in with the rest of the world, but absolutely have the space for each other. I love them so much.
Shimeji Simulation
Manga, 5 vol, 2019 Me:- Author:10
Shimeji Simulation is my favourite manga of all time! Cute, relaxing, easy on the eyes... its the perfect manga in my opinion
