Ryousuke Takahashi is a Japanese anime director, screenwriter, and producer. He has worked for Sunrise on many anime shows in the real robot genre, including Armored Trooper VOTOMS, Fang of the Sun Dougram, Panzer World Galient, and Blue Comet SPT Layzner.

The TV series is the first directorial work by Ryosuke Takahashi. It is considered as an early gathering of many of anime's future greats, particularly for the Gundam series.

The TV series is a soft reboot of the 60s anime versions, both adapted from the manga series by Shotaro Ishinomori. It was directed by Ryosuke Takahashi. Most of the series' plot is original, except for the first nine episodes, oversaw by Ishinomori before leaving the project due to creative differences with Takahashi. The anime was canceled after 50 of its planned 52 episode.
Taiyou no Kiba Dougram

The TV series was created by directors Ryosuke Takahashi and Takeyuki Kanda, and screenwriter Hiroyuki Hoshiyama. Dougram was one of the first successors to the "Real Robot" genre created by Mobile Suit Gundam. Takahashi would go on to create a follow-up series, Armored Trooper Votoms, which used similar styling and themes but was otherwise unrelated in plot, characters or setting.

Following directly in the footsteps of Takahashi's previous series, Fang of the Sun Dougram, VOTOMS continued the trend towards hard science in the mecha anime subgenre. The series was followed by numerous OVA releases, and also inspired a number of spin-off works.

The first two OVAs "Chapter of the Land" and "Chapter of the Sky" are in fact recaps of episodes 1-13 and 14-25 of the TV series, respectively, while the third OVA "Crest of Iron" is an alternate version that has its own storyline and different character settings.

The TV series was originally written by Tsunehisa Itō with Ryōsuke Takahashi as series' director. Episode 25 is a recap clip-show and episode 38 is replaced by the 3rd OVA, subtitled The Last Act: Re-recording 2000, that remakes and expands on its events to conclude the show after it was canceled with only 2/3rd of the plot concluded.

The OVA serves as an alternative version of the TV series. The first 2 OVAs, subtitled Act I: Eiji 1996 and Act II: Le Caine 1999, summarize episodes 1–24 (Act I) and 26–37 (Act II) of the TV series. The final OVA, "Seal 2000", is an expanded version of the final episode of the TV series (38) and features new animation and a longer epilogue.

The OVA series is a spinoff of the Armored Trooper Votoms TV series. It takes place in the same universe (and time, and in some episodes, almost the same places) as Votoms, but the two stories are entirely independent of each other.

The film is a compilation of both old and new footage, with many clips completely re-animated, and features a significantly different ending: the final third of the storyline from the original TV series was removed for the film, necessitating an alternate ending.
Hi no Tori

The TV series is based on the manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka. Directed by Ryōsuke Takahashi, it adapts "Dawn", "Resurrection", "Strange Beings", "Sun", "Future" arcs from the manga. The story is consistently shortened and restructured, and the experimental elements of the original manga are almost completely eliminated.
