A stack that contains shows that somehow showcase or explore the interface between humanity and technology. Entries must be grounded in recognizable tech to at least some degree rather than relying purely on Clarke's Law.
AI no Idenshi
TV, 2023, 12 eps Me:- Author:6
An anthology going right for this territory. Not the strongest work out there but there's enough to enjoy.
Beatless
TV, 2018, 20 eps Me:- Author:9
A love story of human and robot, touching on AI and Superintelligence and the issues of coexistence between humans and thinking machines.
Coppelion
TV, 2013, 13 eps Me:- Author:7
I considered leaving this off because, compared to most of the entries, it's something of the "reverse side", dealing with the consequences of a failure (a major radioactive disaster) rather than the growing pains of discovery. The way the characters interact with their own nature as the products of genetic science, though, gets it the mention.
Dennou Coil
TV, 2007, 26 eps Me:- Author:10
A "kids on an adventure" story that exists in augmented reality. Uses its cyberspace otherworld wisely, even if it drifts into magical thinking at times, and is really an excellent show besides.
ID-0
TV, 2017, 12 eps Me:- Author:7
Has a lot of space adventure, but the biggest core idea in this has to do with mind uploading, which is a very valid topic for this stack.
Koukaku Kidoutai
Movie, 1995, 1 ep Me:- Author:9
An absolute classic of the cyberpunk genre, touching both on what makes someone a human and what could be when the line between man and machine is blurred. If you haven't seen this yet, check it out.
Rakuen Tsuihou
Movie, 2014, 1 ep Me:- Author:8
Hits some of the underpinnings of thought, and deals with a society of "humans" living purely digital existences. Interesting stuff.
Psycho-Pass
TV, 2012, 22 eps Me:- Author:8
A classical "Dystopia made possible by advancing tech", this one is more about the society than the "gadget", but I think it has enough for the list, depicting a world where surveillance and biometric evaluation can be used to stop crime before it starts... and are used to punish possible criminals before they offend. Or so the idea is; most of the show is more of a crime drama about what dirty deeds are still done beneath the system.
Serial Experiments Lain
TV, 1998, 13 eps Me:- Author:10
Nothing I say here could do this one justice, at least without spoilers. If you haven't seen Lain, do so.
Shangri-La
TV, 2009, 24 eps Me:- Author:3
I hate this show, but its one good subplot, which is focused on AI and market manipulation, is right up the correct alley.
Texhnolyze
TV, 2003, 22 eps Me:- Author:6
Miserably dark and at times openly hostile to the viewer, but despite that I think there's some really worthwhile material in it.
Yurei Deco
TV, 2022, 12 eps Me:- Author:4
I'll be honest, I did not like this one in the least, but if you really want to see a social media dystopia I guess it's here.
