This series started out with great potential and became a dumpster fire. Cosplay is only about 25% of the series. The other 75% is Marin endlessly swooning over Gojo. It was cute at first, then it got stale and sickening.
I'm reading for story and substance, not to see a girl gush over a guy all day.
A good romance story, in general, is like a business partnership. The male and female leads must be equally invested in the relationship for it to work. That's why we enjoy Oregairu, Bunny Girl Senpai, Horimiya, and others.
Dress Up Darling ignores all of that, and becomes the typical, lifeless slop you see from Hallmark romance movies. Surprisingly, there's a large audience who enjoys that, and no doubt a lot of the fans likely see themselves in Marin.
