When most isekai just put an uninteresting Japanese character in another world only so that he receives a disproportionate power, a harem and no evolution, Re: Zero next door, to a complex story and excellent character development (including Subaru his main character).
The fact that Subaru can return to a specific point in the past every time he dies is a great idea because at first we think we’re looking at a normal isekai but when we see the main character bleeding and suffering to death, we understand that Re: Zero is the kind of anime that will break the codes of its genre. The development of Subaru is exceptional, we will really see a human. It will go through all possible emotions, it will improve and fall back through joy, sadness, anger, jealousy and madness. In addition, all this evolution will be done for the main theme of Re: Zero, the transition to adulthood carried by his main character, Subaru.
However, all Re: Zero characters are interesting outside of Subaru. Rem in particular, is a character that will change as and when to help Subaru. Emilia is the reason for Re: Zero’s scenario and the reason to live and fight Subaru. There is of course a whole panoply of interesting characters to discover.
In addition, the story of Re: Zero is poignant and gripping. There are many mysteries to discover and that’s what makes us not bored. At the end of each season there are more mysteries than answers and this is what I think, makes the suspense of a series
As for the realization of the serie, the animation is very good and the staging is excellent to the point that I felt real emotions while watching Re: Zero
The dubbing is of rare quality. The whole cast gave all its soul in their voices, including Subaru which has one of the best voices of Japanese animation for my taste.
However, Re: Zero, is certainly very popular, but also very criticized. Please do not trust these reviews: saying that Subaru is an unbearable, silly and uninteresting character. These people did not look beyond the form, not the substance. The purpose of the Subaru character is that it evolves. It is both unbearable and incredible because it is well written.
In conclusion, Re: Zero is an excellent anime to watch absolutely that I recommend. Re: Zero is not only the best isekai out there, but also one of the best fiction out there.
