Mushishi, a unique show with a unique premise, is one of the best works of art the anime industry has to offer. It's a full package deal with phenomenal world-building, storytelling and mood setting. Additionally, it provides the viewers with breath-taking visuals and scenery apace with a gentle and blissful soundtrack. In short, watching mushishi feels like a holy sensory experience.

Episodic anime are not usually my cup of tea, as most of them seem like a journey with no destination. However, mushishi proves to be an exception as each and every episode is a whole journey on and of its own.

Other than our main guy Ginko, most of the characters are never to be seen again. Nonetheless, all of them are fleshed out really well with interesting and unique backstory, alongside just the right amount of angst and hardships that only serve to make them that much more relatable and sympathetic. Honestly, props to the creator for their massive brain and phenomenal creativity.

Now, on to the MC. Ginko, being the only constant throughout the whole show, is a very likeable and entertaining main character. He may seem monotone and emotionless (kuudere) at first, but the more the story progresses the more his true personality shines through and you get to see how much he truly cares and enjoys what he does, which in turn makes you enjoy it just as much.

10/10 must watch and 1000/10 recommendation for new anime watchers as it has none of the typical anime cringe.
