I was under the impression that this would showcase the world of Aincrad through Asuna's point of view, like the first movie. However, it was not like that. There is very little exploration of Aincrad, even though the characters in the story talks about 'how to live life in Aincrad'. It's also not clear whether the story is from Asuna or Kirito's perspective. I think if they committed to the idea of world building from Asuna's point of view, the story would have been much better, like the first movie.
On the bright side, we got to see Argo in the movie, and it was great that her character was explored (not really but she was in the movie). Its really a shame that we saw some of the more unexplored characters from the original series in the movie, but their characters were not explored more.
I think overall, it was enjoyable. With limited screen time, there isn't much they can realistically add without changing the story drastically. If they do make a sequel, I hope they do more of an exploration of Aincrad.
