Preliminary (17/54 eps)
Don't write this one off because its in Chinese, its a good one! As mentioned in another review, the subtitles are not the greatest but the impact it has is marginal IMO. This season picks up right where the last one left off and doesn't miss a beat. The combination of great Visuals paired with a decent plot makes for an enjoyable viewing experience.

Characters: 7/10
The characters in this series are solid while development/growth may be slow for people other than Bai Xiaochun, it's ok because of the change in setting and introduction of newer characters that takes place at the beginning of this season makes the supporting cast appear less stale. It does eventually circle back to the spirit stream sect though, and with that said, the characters range from goofy to serious. The MC himself I find to be a little overpowered but that is the nature of the show so no major points will be docked, but he is definitely a force to be reckoned with. As far as his persona is concerned, he is a light hearted, goofy guy that does everything in his power to attain immortality and protect his friends.

Art/Animation: 9/10
When assessing visuals I either love it or hate it. In this case the visuals are pretty compelling *based off the stream I found, your milage may vary.* Fighting scenes have great detail, characters look good as ever, and the landscapes make you wish you were there instead of some wintery hell that is the north... Anyway, the point is that the art shouldn't take away from your viewing experience, but as mentioned above, the subtitles could be a factor depending on how important that is to you. And yes, I am batching subtitles in with visuals.

Plot: 6.5/10
The show is based on this cultivation theme in which the MC is seeking immortality. While it is fairly straight forward, the twists and turns that are provided throughout the anime give it a different flavor when needed. One thing though is that at times it can progress slowly which isn't great but it isn't all the time so there's that. While the main focus is what Bai Xiaochun does, it is highly possible that you will also come to care about what happens to other characters and/or sects. Overall, the plot is decent and when combined with the other aspects of this anime, you get a pretty good result.

Overall: 7/10
I currently give this a 7 because the characters and art are good. Why isn't this a 10? Because while I do enjoy the MC for his persona, I do think he is overpowered which depending on what side of the fence you are on is either great or meh. His supporting cast is pretty decent and when paired with the quality of visuals I find the anime to be appealing. The plot may not be the most amazing, but it is definitely decent, and better than most which are undoubtedly *IMO* RUBBISH. So if you are looking to pick something up that will scratch that action & fantasy itch, this is definitely a viable option.
