What was Mushoku Tensei, season 1? An overall high budget, and GREAT adaptation of what's actually pretty mediocre base material in all regards aside maybe world building.
What is this season 2 then? A slightly lower budget BAD adaptation of said story. 5.4~ or so as opposed to the previous season 7~/10.
What exactly is the reasoning behind me saying all this? Rushing, cutting, replacements, all done in almost the worst ways possible. All the interesting events and world building? Almost entirely removed. Most the WN's events? Gone. The LN stuff? Either gone or rushed like crazy. Which you may say might be necessary if they're trying to focus more on the more important and interesting events to rush to the better stuff... But they're NOT! More than that, all the time they free up with speeding up the events that are less interesting and less important side events and characters, and even interesting stuff they squander on drawing up rather boring and far shorter conversations and events meaning they make everything dull without actually creating too much interest or progress in return, and it lasted for pretty much over HALF THE SEASON!
And so i'll ask you, what's the charm of isekai and other fiction? Often the fiction part. What happens if you CUT most of the fiction toward relationships, important and less important events, sidetracking with side characters? You get just a normal story, set in a fiction world, but what's the point if you don't get to see and experience most of it? Admittedly the combination of key events does manage to get things more interesting later on, but when it happens like 2/3rds into the thing, can i really give it any points for that? The answer is no.
Final verdict - i'd recommend you fast forward the last few episode of the last season (demon lands) and at least 7 episodes from this season if you're gonna go and watch it. Otherwise, not recommended at all unless you're a hardcore fan.
