I really liked this show, regardless of what others say. I thought this story was rather unique. It had to do entirely with the economy, and a part of which questioned morals. It touched upon the subject that in order to achieve what you want, in order to reach your goal, sometimes, more often then not, you will have to trample over someone to get there. In this particular case, you would trample over that someones future. The vagueness of this toll becomes apparent throughout the show, as you see just how variant the tolls are between all the people, though they are all futures. I will say though, go into this doing some minor research on how economics works or just have a basic understanding of stocks, inflation, currency, shares, value, and how economies deal with private industry.
Story:
Pretty unique if you ask me. Thats not to say that the characters, but this is the only show that I've seen that deals entirely on the economy and the effects on the character world. It may get confusing in some bits, but even an average joe should make it through the show understanding every concept and just what was being done when. Again, many moral questions are asked to the characters that (at least in one situation) you may find tantilizing. Aside from that, youve got the financial district in this weird otherworldy realm, where money must be made lest the district go bankrupt and...well, youll see.
Art:
Considering the year, and the shows that have been produced in the past, this art is average. Its not the art that makes the story though, so I dont weigh this too heavily in the score. Regardless, it could have been a lot better, but no complaints. I think it was fine as it was.
Sound:
The op and ed were okay. Not particularly exciting nor anything special to take note of. However, i think what got me crazy was the voices and the assurance you got when you heard the whole "micro-mezzo-MACROflation" and the whole "you have gain" or "you are bankrupt" thing. I really liked it, and i think it added extreme effect to what little thrill the fight scenes had.
Characters:
This was by far the pillar that fell short in this show. And when i say fall short, i mean it barely made it off the ground. The characters where cliche and overused, especially the somewhat smart, poor, living-alone, hard-working, caring, but above all weakminded and loveless character, who didnt have the grapes to tell his childhood friend that he likes her (or so is presumed). Its a character used too many times by too many shows. It feels like this character is just jumping around from show to show with a different face but the same story. The character that really jumped and saved this section from like...a 4 was Masakaki. Just watch the show. You'll understand.
Enjoyment/Overall:
I say watch it. Its short, and I think itll be a good watch. I know that this will definitely be a show ill remember for a good while. It wasnt the greatest show in the world but i think that if anything its a better show then half of the crap that is being released today. BS shows like seikon no qwaser, which (because idiots will be idiots) got renewed for a second season are disgusting. There is no story, no plot. just boobs jiggling around for another painful season where, lets face it, if you notice the guy amidst the sea of boobs, ive got some news for you...
