Why do you want to put deep meaning in an anime if you going to end it like this? This is exactly what i tought after i finished the show. It wouldn't be that bad, but the last frame of this season is the most annoying thing an anime studio could ever do to a franchise. They covered 15 volumes in 11 episodes and the first 4 episodes only about running to A to B, and not just that they even said in the final episode "You want a 3rd season? Well you know what? You ain't get any, idiot." I'm not mad at this show, i'm mad at the creators that they did this. This was such a good series and they ruined it. So if you reading this just watch the first season then imagine that they put a "And Emma and Ray came back for Phil and the others and they lived happily ever after" sentence at the end of the cutscene and you basically got what S2 was good for.
Yeah, it's a shame.
