I had been wanting to watch this movie for quite some time because I felt like I would enjoy it, as I really like cats. I went in with mediocre expectations as I simply was just curious about the story, Honestly speaking, my expectations were both met and let down at the same time.

The story-line had potential to be something memorable yet it did not quite work out this way. Its a story of a girl who deals with a cat deity to have the ability to become a cat whenever she placed a mask on. However, in order to fully become a cat you have to give away your human life in place for a cat one. The main character who took the deal uses her ability to spend time with her crush, as he does not share the same feelings as her, but finds herself in trouble of turning into an actual cat.

The main protagonist, Muge, was my least favorite part of the movie. She was clingy and pushy on the second main character, Hinode. It was honestly creepy how much she doted on him despite Hinode displaying no romantic interest in her for a large percent of the movie. There were times where I had to close the film and take a break due to the second-hand embarrassment I felt, and yet I refused to stop watching it just to see how things would work out. The only character I liked was Muge's friend who was the only one to seem to carry some sort of grasp on reality. She tried saving Muge from tears so many times, but Muge would not listen to her friend. I also found it quite strange how Hinode suddenly had unbearable feelings of love for Muge despite feeling neutral about her for a long part of the film. I don't quite understand this.

There were also a lot of confusing plot changes and holes which made me confused a lot of the time.
A lot of them were not needed, and the film could've gone without them. The movie couldve been much shorter and better without these.

The art style and back round's were quite nice. I enjoyed this for the most part.

Personally, I feel like the story should've ended with Muge accepting that Hinode does not share her emotions, and realize that her clingy and pushy behaviors are not alright. The pair could've ended up being friends instead. After all, Hinode seemed to be alright with being Muge's friend.

Overall, I would not watch this again, but I encourage others to watch it and get their own opinions on it. Its either a very love-able tale, or one that you refuse to let see the light of day again. It seemed like it was trying to be either a Disney or Studio-Ghibli movie, yet failed to capture the magic of either.
