(uh trying to not have spoilers)
overall a 8.5 i guess.
So I have read the manga, but the movie just seemed to go by really fast at the beginning and I don't know how people who didn’t read it understood. But it got better as it went on. They didn’t really explain the dreams really well, and yeah, Zenitsu’s and Inosuke’s were kinda just there for comedic effect, they didn’t explain Rengoku’s backstory as much as they do in the manga. They’re prolly gonna do it later in season three, not sure.
Rengoku was kinda like “eh let’s introduce his cutie of a brother, that’s all we need.”
I loved Tanjiro’s dream, and how he reacts when leaving them. It’s kinda awkward at the beginning because it's like the first time you meet them in the story and you’re just supposed to accept Tanjiro’s family but okay. The final time he met his family against lower one WAS GREAT. tHE ART, tHE FEEL, IT WAS ALL SO PERFECT. It was like straight out of a horror movie, I loved it.
Art was good and bad.
The usual demon slayer art style is fantastic, and really unique, which is why it stands out so much compared to everything else with a similar story line. The only thing that gets me is how grey some of the scenes look because of the shading but that’s not a big deal. It’s just that the CG used on the trains for lower one’s tentacles probably gave everyone nightmares. It was kinda rough in my opinion, but eh it was only a few minutes yk.
Lemme just tell you, upper three being played by Akira Ishida literally made my day :,)
The soundtrack was kinda a mess, with random piano music is the part with tanjiro’s family, except for homura and the song during the last battle scene but if i would listen to LiSA i would prolly prefer crossing fields (bc nostalgia :,)) and the autoturn turning it kinda threw the whole vibe of “battle to the death whatever” off.
Okay so the story was taken off the manga, so I'm not really gonna say anything but i was great. That’s why i loved reading it :,). For a movie, i'm impressed they fit all the important details and they were pretty elaborated on. Even my dad, who has never seen the show or read it, could know what was going on and didn’t fall asleep. Yey.
Battle scene.
Whoo boy.
I LOVED IT. RENGOKU AND UPPER THREE WERE FANTASTIC AND IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL AND WOW BEST PART OF THE MOVIE. *ofc that’s all my opinion*
Then there was the scene with regoku’s mom.
Oh god.
For such a touching scene, she felt like she was talking TO A WALL. It was only at the end when you could hear she wanted something.
RENGOKU SMILING AT THE END WAS LITERALLY THE CUTEST FUCKING THING IN DEMONSLAYER JUST TRY AND CHANGE MY MIND… Actually I really like Mitsuri and Iguro’s backstory--
Inosuke crying was a bit much.
Zenistu crying was a bit much.
My family agrees.
There you have it folks.
