The show is focused on what it wants to tell; the life of this village boy who goes to city. It doesn't pretend to be an epic adventure and it does not have to be. There are bad anime, average ones, decent ones and great ones. This is a decent anime. Nothing more and most definitely nothing less.
The story is about a boy from a village who goes to a city to fulfill his dream of becoming a soldier. He is the weakest of all the residents in his village. However, he turns out to be the strongest person the city has ever seen.
People don't watch slice of life comedy for groundbreaking character development and grand overarching plots. I will rate this for what it is; a slice-of-life comedy set in a fantasy setting. This is a show you would watch when you want to unwind and relax whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea.
I am seeing more and more people whining and moaning about fan service across this site. In what universe does this show have fan service? Am i the only one who is not getting aroused from every single anime in existence? The term "fan service" is overused and meaningless at this point. In fact, if you see someone complaining about it in any anime, odds are that there is barely any (if at all) and some puritan is trying to live an Amish anime life.
I'd rate this a 7.5, but MAL doesn't have that option so i will rate it a 10 instead.
P.S: I love the Amish. But i don't think they will even see this review anyway.
