Sayonara Peter Pan is far from being some sort of bewitching masterpieces like the currently releasing Attack On Titan or something that really makes you self-reflect like Oyasumi Pun Pun. However there is something really thought provoking in not the manga but the idea that it unknowingly pushes.

The manga is based around a society where children and adults are torn apart and children are smaller, weaker, human beings who are put through destitute learning centers and have their lives graded by scientists and robots that lack compassion in the name of society. In this, peter-pan, a terrorist who we learn is piloted by Children saves our protagonist Shizu and his main love interest and in that start a rebellion and uprising.

The story at first was really intriguing to me, but towards the end the pacing grew far too fast as they time skip from the climatic events to the future without even showing any source of what happened between the events. Even in a world where I could accept almost all of it I had questions towards the end that were never answered.

The Art is honestly pretty good and I enjoyed the art style, there is no super-amazing art scenes but the gruesome ones are drawn out in a realistic, believable way.

Finally, the characters, Shizu is one of two people who I think genuinely go through a proper character arc throughout this whole manga. That being said, there isn't a lot of time that is given to develop those characters but it's done in a way I can thoroughly enjoy even though it's a bit cliche and campy. The friends they lose along the way mean something and come as a way to show plot points and guide decisions for Shizu.

I enjoyed it quite a bit but absolutely do not think it's something incredible that needs to be touted for ingenuity or anything of the sort. It's a fun read that can get dark at times and honestly is a solid 6-7 in my books.

(Also MAL says it's still currently publishing however the story and manga are both complete)
