Preliminary (15/? chp)
I really never really planned on making a review ever but I couldn’t let this one slide. I’m fairly new to manga and even I could recognize how appalling this atrocity truly was.

For starters, we have the mc. Denser than a brick. Honestly, how could one not get pissed off by it, it’s like he was deliberately ignoring the heroines affection. This dude is obsessed with social hierarchies and social caste systems that couldn’t come to the possibility that this girl liked him after she asks to go to his house, made him lunch, asks to skip school together, writes love in the sand to try to hint she likes him, and ask to fulfill promises they made when they were kids. So far the biggest promise has been to kiss. (They get even more suggestive). All this and yet the mc’s raging inferiority complex has completely shifted his viewpoint on the social norm so much so that he’s lost his ability to recognize basic human affection. But for some reason, this introverted loser felt obligated to save a girl that was being molested on a train. Ah yes the writing inconsistencies. They only get worse...

Onto the heroine. As of now we don’t know when she fell in love with him, but they used to be close, distant for 4 years, and then became closer after the train incident. I think it’s safe to assume that she fell in love with him around then. So pretty much all of her romantic interest originates from her getting saved by someone who doesn’t even know why he saved her. We were just left with “before I realized it, I was standing in front of the molester”. What kind of bs is that. Doesn’t even fit the mcs personality. Later she asks if that situation happened again, would he still save her and he replies with some half assed, superficial response that was only given because he found out it was her that he saved on the train. And the amount of affection that she showed just from this whole situation is unreasonable and forced to try to move the story along. It does so in a manor where even if a new love interest appears, it’s not even worth getting invested in her character since she’d be completely outshined anyways.

There was a good opportunity to incorporate themes about high school and the taboo of a social hierarchy and the effects it could have on ones self, but that potential is long gone. Self-acceptance, accepting others, so much more could’ve been done with this manga. Instead we get the unnecessarily long named, trope-infested garbage that you would only read if there was no other books left on the planet. Such a shame a beautiful art style was wasted on shit like this. I wasn’t expecting anything more than being entertained going into it, but leaving it I’ve just been left with rage and stupidity after catching up on this incomprehensible trash. How this has a 7+ on MAL is beyond me. There is so much more I want to get into about this dumpster fire but I don’t want to give it more time than I already have. If you’re able to recognize even the lowest level of writing, stay away from this monstrosity. Just tryna save you the time.
