For a kids show of the mid 90's, it not only had a layered and deep characters but also had riveting arcs to keep you hooked. The opening song pumped you for what was to come and the ending left you wanting for more. The art style was also not bad, but note the bias of my review might simply arise from the nostalgia of revisiting one of the first anime of my life.
Do give this show a shot with a grain of salt. I do not know if it has aged well, but it was popular in Japan and South East Asia in it's time.

And yes, this is a somewhat mystical fishing anime with specially powered baits, rods, and fishing styles. It might sound cheesy, but it is tied together well in it's presentation.
