Masked as an ecchi anime, this series presents the amusing burning teenage love spirit and ambitions.
And all the goofing-around, drama and of course, fan-service one can expect.
A hint of nostalgia, some emotional pondering and a handful of laughs.

Review: START!

Funny story: I was looking for a full-blown ecchi anime (unusual) when I came across this. I expected another harem style, cliché-filled, dumb protagonist and all the usual --- kind of anime and that is what I got from the first episode.
But I had some time so I watched the second one... and the third one. And then I finished the entire series overnight. And now I'm writing a review about it. And its 5AM. Yup...

Anyways, I got hooked is what I'm trying to say. And this is what matters for shows that don't take themselves too seriously.

This series does well not to use special characters for the protagonist and co-protagonist. In essence the characters are a wildly ambitious, lustrous, beautiful girl and a good, forgettable, dumb plain guy.

What is noteworthy is that these characters are not only party relatable, but through their developments, the situations they are put in and their interactions, the become truly relatable and the viewer can, at least momentarily, connect with them. It is because their situation is so familiar to most of us, that we will be able to feel their hearts racing at points and breaking at others.

This is by no means a story that has any depth, no. This anime relies on the viewers emotions to become enjoyable. It uses clichés and twists them by using comedy to make its point. The fan-service is always there, but it doesn't exploit it for attention. Instead the question is the same from the very first episode: are they gonna f#!@ or not?

This story takes you through the highs and lows, as the characters grow to understand the meaning behind their actions, their feelings to ultimately understand things their had previously misunderstood. Seeing this through the eyes of a carefree 17 year-old, one can understand this series represents the emotional turmoil well. Unfortunately, apart from that the characters are blunt and boring. The situations give them meaning, their personalities are void and only serve to explain their actions.

The sound is there and serves its purpose, the art is standard but executes the comedic moments in a truly hilarious way. Well-timed exaggerated reactions, chibi/simple character versions -- it does it all in a great way. The jokes are nothing original, just plain old humor, awkwardness, bad luck and of course tsundere-innocent guy chemistry.
What can I say? Laughs: guaranteed.

One last comment on fan-service. The amount is a little toned down for an ecchi anime. It is there but it's never explicit, only when it matters. I congratulate them on being able to pinpoint it to only the most important moments and give this reveal, this exposure, some meaning.

I believe if there is a reason to watch this series, it is this: have a good laugh while feeling some nostalgia about being 17, dumb as a brick and in love. And yeah, there's sex too.
