If I wrote this review before I watched Case 4 or the 4th Arc everything would've been 10/10. Like honestly watch it for the first three arcs they are outstanding, they're so entertaining and the twists are fabulous. The characters are all very three-dimensional with their backstories and the antagonists are fleshed out villains that you could imagine existing. It is also extremely funny and you really need to watch the first fourteen episodes, like stat.

Okay now to talk about the fourth arc. *SPOILERS AHEAD* *LIKE I KNOW IT'S A REVIEW AND I SHOULDN'T BUT I HAVE TO* Honestly, it wasn't that bad, like it was the same formula as before, Edamura is yet again tricked and honestly every-time he is I feel super bad for him. The first few episodes of arc 4 aren't bad because I basically just cried for Makoto. But Laurent's depressing origin story wasn't told as well as Cynthia's or Abbie's by a long shot. It took a whole episode when we were at the height of "omg wtf is going on" and I was so focused on the fact that Makoto's dad was a con artist that Laurent's love story was kind of a second thought for me. It also just felt out of place, like it wasn't as hard-hitting as the other characters' backstories. The last two episodes are where my problems really lie. Eddie being involved out of nowhere and Makoto going crazy just felt cheap. Like the writer's team ran out of ideas and just decided to do anything. Was I expecting Makoto to think of something really smart and wow everyone like he did in the first arc? YES. YES, I WAS. Also, why were we all made to feel empathetic to the chairwoman? That bitch was a child trafficker. She was like for the company I've got to kidnap and sell children to random rich people, for which I assume are not kind reasons. She was like a mum to Makoto for what?

My biggest problem is that the villains that were conned. The consequences of them being called - whoosh. Away. Didn't even exist, they just jumped back from where they left off. What was the point? Why would they undermine all the work they built up from the first fourteen episodes to ruin it all in the last one? It would've been awesome to see those guys rotting in prison or struggling to survive. But I guess there was no lesson learnt.

ALSO, was Laurent/Edamura's dad actual psychopaths? Why did they make Edumare suffer the loss of his two great friends and force him to come to terms with the fact that he killed his own father for their own gain? Like Laurent actually went through that and he was like meh let Makoto suffer. Why did Makoto have to suffer so much when he just wanted an honest job and to start his life over again? Also, we all realise that Makoto's dad was apart of the shady Chinese mafia business for two years - like he helped do a lot of bad things. Also cannot believe that Makoto trusted his dad - he fucking believed in him - and yet he was betrayed - FOR THE CON. Like if Makoto actually went crazy and stabbed his dad I would lowkey understand. But at the same time, I felt bad because his dad wasn't an actual corrupt lawyer like he originally thought - he just chose to be seen that way. HhhI will fight Edumare's father for him. Makoto is too forgiving as a character and they all need therapy.

Anyways I think that's everything I'm angry about. This was one of my most favourite anime after I watched the first three arcs so I guess my expectations were WAY too high for the last arc. Can somebody relate to the anger I'm feeling? I will watch s2 in hopes that it'll be something like the beginning of s1.
