If you're a gay person tired of how many animes base gay characters completely off of stereotypes you're going to love this anime. This story was written in the 80's so there are a few stereotypical elements for sure (like one of the gay evil men being a pedophile) but the main characters' relationship is truly beautiful and a great representation of who gay people are: just normal people. It was incredibly refreshing to have a main character that is not a top or bottom trope, and to depict androgyny in a normally homophobic setting as something that's normal and natural. The sexuality of the characters isn't a focus at all, which I personally love. To me, this anime is 10/10. It made me laugh, cry, and feel represented in a way I personally haven't seen before.
