Reviews

I don't normally write reviews, but since this is MHA and I'm a sucker for this series, I will let my thoughts be heard.

I remember seeing the news for this movie on Instagram (as that's where I find most of my anime news) and I wanted to see the movie as I am a fan. I don't think the movie was out in Japan, so I had to wait. I don't remember the release date of this movie in the US (sometime in February?), but I remember going to it with my friend as she wanted to see it. We were excited to watch the movie and even had the chance to meet some fellow MHA fans before the movie started.

If I had added this movie to my list back in February, I would've rated it a 10, no questions asked. But now that I am sitting down and writing this review and as much as I hate to admit it, but, the movie was not as great as I remember.

Will contain possible spoilers.

Story: 7

The story is as typical as any other shonen anime. Villain and Hero's meet, Villian and Hero's fight, Hero's all get injured, they all fight, and the Hero's win. Simple enough. But I'm simple and really don't mind the cliche tropes that MHA likes to put into the story.

For what happened in the movie, I already had an idea (I don't like watching trailers as I like to be surprised, but the hype for this movie was everywhere and I saw some spoilers) and had already created an ideal scenario where I wanted the movie to go. While my ideas never came true, I wasn't mad or upset, I simply accepted it and enjoyed what came out of this film.

Art: 7

Studio Bones has been very good with every anime that they have touched, though, in this movie, it doesn't live up to what the episodes can do. While I'm an artist, I have no idea what it takes to make top tier animation. I can only assume they had a budget and deadline that came faster than they expected.

There fights and scenes that are worth rewatching the movie again, but the movie could've been better, art-wise.

Sound: 8

I'm no expert, but the sound didn't sound as high quality as should have. But, it still had the impact that I expected out of a movie like this. Honestly, that last fight and that slow, emotional music was what sealed the movie. For me at least.

Character: 8

All of my good boys and girls got the screen time they needed, so I will not complain about that. However, I feel as if some characters didn't seem like themselves? It's been a few months since watching the movie and I don't remember a whole lot, but I do remember some characters feeling out of place.

Enjoyment: 8

As I stated, I am a sucker for MHA and despite what I think was wrong, I still really enjoyed this movie! I would like to believe that any MHA fans would enjoy this movie, but, I am only one opinion out of hundreds.

I hope I was able to help! ^^
