Zankyou no Terror is a love-hate relationship. I love every story when Shinichiro Watanabe is writing it or is the director, but he tried something in the last four or three episodes that was a good idea but was way too fast and had too much content. Huge potential but unfortunately lost in the last few episodes.

Story: 7

The story is unpredictable. The idea and the plot are perfectly implemented in the first seven episodes and I would have even given a ten. A team of two terrorists called the Sphinx challenge the police and you are shown the backstories of the various characters, which were portrayed just great. Nonetheless, the last few episodes were poorly presented.

Character: 7

The main characters Twelve and Nine are both perfect and explain very well why they act like this, which is a great strength in the works of Watanabe.
There is also a typical big brain detective and another girl named Lisa who had a good role in the first episodes but later feels unnecessary, which is kind of sad because she admits that too. Side characters are mostly uninteresting and the two main antagonists are weird and are doing things where you wonder why they do that... .

Sound: 10+

Yoko Kanno + Shinichiro Watanbe = 10+
This soundtrack is one of the best I've heard, but what else should you expect from Yoko Kanno. She knows how to use music in different situations so that the scene is a thousand times better: riding a motorcycle, in a ferris wheel, at school .... The soundtrack is a combination I have never seen before: piano, violin, Icelandic man who sings with a wonderful voice. Voice actors are fine. I like Lisa's voice.

Animation: 8,5

Studio Mappa has an animation style that relies on character animation and background display. The camera work is also excellent. I also have the feeling that Studio Mappa almost always only have the very well animated scenes in the first few episodes and later it just looks "good".

Enjoyment: 9

You'll love the first few episodes, no doubt about that. From episode six on, it depends what you like. All in all, I still think that they gave away a huge potential due to the fast and unstructured ending.
