tl;dr: An isekai that should be enjoyed solely as comedy fueled amusement.

This is a harem isekai featuring an overpowered protagonist as seems to be the standard for most isekai. This one in particular has received a tremendous amount of criticism as being incredibly flawed. I in general don't disagree with most of this criticism, but rather I feel that most of it misses the point, which is that this is supposed to be purely amusing rather than having any sort of depth to it. The world is a random blend of strange things, with part of it being purely medieval fantasy, part of it being a recreation of the Tokunaga era of historical Japan, and at the end it suddenly going sci-fi with mechs. In terms of magic and abilities, it's pretty much whatever it needs to be at the time. In terms of characters, each are pretty flat one note characters that we aren't particularly supposed to sympathize or empathize with.

All of those sound like major flaws, but none of them effected my enjoyment of the series, and in many cases enhanced it. I found the anime amusing for two reasons, the first being the craziness and the other being the comedy. In terms of craziness, this manifests in two ways. The first is regarding the mechanics and the world, wherein all sorts of crazy situations come up that have nothing to do with each other and don't really make sense to exist in the same world, but Touya steamrolls all of them. These segments don't feel like they're supposed to make Touya seem amazing to the viewer. Rather, they're generally pretty rushed and don't focus much on Touya at all with there never being a feeling of tension and hence no feel of amazement at overcoming said tension. Rather, I feel they're supposed to be amusing in showing the reactions from everyone else to how easily and simply things are resolved, which I did find reasonably amusing from beginning to end. The second way is regarding character relationships, which are incredibly simply and don't have much to them, but the whole situation is completely ridiculous and Touya seems completely out of his depth so watching him squirm is also amusing.  The end result is that although the narrative is weak by normal metrics, I felt it was interesting enough from beginning to end and never found that I felt like it was dragging on or that I was zoning out. Something that helped with that is that I also felt that the comedy was solid. This aspect is closely entwined with the previous mentioned ridiculousness and enhances it, though I should note I feel that they are separate aspects and there are areas where the two do not overlap. I especially liked the eye-catch like scene transitions that ensured that the mood remained humorous regardless of what was happening which kept the atmosphere where it needed to be.

All in all, it's not a masterpiece with deep characters or anything like that, just a directionless amusing tale of someone doing various things while having fun in another world. The ending was solid enough too in that regard, in that it wasn't any better than the rest of the series, but was different enough that it worked well enough as an ending. I should note though that the ending focuses on the future in such a way that it isn't even sequel bait, it felt like straight up "Read the Light Novel" bait.

The art is incredibly simple and not particularly unique but worked well enough. Character designs were kind of dull. Animation was pretty weak. The soundtrack wasn't memorable enough to feel like it mattered either way. The OP was solid enough in terms of visuals and audio, though strangely had scenes from essentially beyond this season. The ED was decent enough in concept of having the same song sung by the different heroines, but overall I found it not that great.
