Hyperventilation is a short, mature, but very well done love story captured in under 20 minutes.

The series shows the development of what we can only call a "relationship" between the two main characters, albeit a rather short telling. I really enjoyed this directing style where we are shown the past and present in chopped up parts, and by the end they come together almost like a puzzle. I don't find the fast pacing or cuts to be confusing at all, it only made the story more interesting.

The artwork is simple but clean. The animation itself goes from being slightly stiff in slower moments, to more fluid in what I can only call fast paced things (wink wink). The voicing is nicely balanced with the sfx, I was also very very pleased to hear "Clair de Lune," which I think was a really good choice of bgm that most definitely gave this more depth.

The main characters themselves are likable but quite boring, that's probably because we don't get to know them past the surface level though. Myeongyi is quiet and tends to be alone, whereas Seonho is more outgoing and usually socializing. There isn't much to explore there as far as I'm concerned.

I thoroughly enjoyed this though and have watched it maybe 3 times? My horrible fujoshi side aside, I think overall it's definitely a cute but far more mature take on romance, if you can even call this romantic.

I would recommend this to people who want immediate sauce gratification. 8/10 ヾ(。・ω・。)
