Spoiler
Kyoukai no Kanata was a promising show with an interesting premise but overall bad execution that has ultimately disappointed me.

I'll try not to include major spoilers from now on, but I'm not promising anything!

I've heard about this show and then looked for it on MAL. I've read a few reviews before watching it, some said it was good, others not so much. Whatever, I was bored and I decided it couldn't be so bad. Indeed I was mistaken.
The show started pretty well, there's no mistake in that. Like I said, the premise is rather interesting and you really want to find out more about the story. After 2 episodes, the show seems to go little by little downhill to the point that I no longer cared what happened in the story or with any of the characters. Yikes that's bad.

The action seems to get more & more stretched out to the point where we reach the infamous episode 6 aka the idol episode. It was at some parts funny ngl, or tried to be at least, but it felt completely out of place. It's supposed to be a dark fantasy anime, right? Well, what I've seen is little to no darkness at all and lots of unfunny and rather annoying forced comedy, and a huge pile of fanservice.
Yes, the fanservice is present a lot, completely irrelevant and very annoying. How much more are you going to dress up the female MC in weird costumes? It happens almost EVERY damn episode. At first I thought it was going to be an one-time situation, for the sake of fanservice but I was wrong again.

Now about the comedic part. Why do you have expectations? It also fails at that miserably. Only a few jokes are on point and made me laugh a bit, but the rest are completely off and very cringe as a matter of fact. The worst thing is the abbundance of jokes in critical situations, plenty of these.

The art is good, it is KyoAni afterall, also the sound is pretty enjoyable.

There are also major plotholes that may or may not be explained in the movie, but there are definitely not explained in this anime.

About the romance part, I didn't care about it at all. It seemed rather forced, and not enjoyable, didn't feel "cute" for me as others said. I didn't like the female MC and the male MC was rather annoying too. These two characters had no substance. The only thing you learn about them is
-- an annoying line the female MC keeps repeating that bothered me the whole series ("hOW unPLEaSanT")
-- themale MC has a thing for girls with glasses ("bEsPacTacLeD bEAUtY")

All in all, Kyoukai no Kanata tried to be lots of things (from a dark fantasy to a bad Slice of Life with unfunny jokes), but failed miserably at all of them.
4/10 with indulgence I wouldn't watch it again.
I haven't even had the resolve to watch the movie, probably won't ever will.
