Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (8/? chp)
This was… an odd one. It’s an ongoing series, so I can only talk about the first two volumes. And the reason why it is odd, in my opinion, is not because it is set in a world where people are alpha, beta or omega, but for the way the manga deals with some tropes.

Megumi is an alpha, quite a popular one from a school for all alphas. One day two of his friends ask him to help them deal with a guy who had beaten them up. The guy is Tsugumi, an omega quite ready to use violence when needed and also hating most of the alphas he meets.

Their relationship starts a bit rocky, with Megumi finding out that the reason why Tsugumi beat him his friends was because they were harassing a girl. Also, Tsugumi refuses to take heat suppressants, leading Megumi to plead him to use some (and he gives Tsugumi his own suppressants).

The whole premise of the manga is that Tsugumi has internalized some of the anti-omega prejudice, and uses anger, violence and sheer will to manage his heats, refusing to take suppressants. He also despises all alphas.

On the other side, there is Megumi who is an alpha, but he hates the idea of being controlled by his own instincts and is scared to end up like his father.

The manga seems to start in a great direction, in my opinion, dealing with the issue of consent and showing how important that is for Megumi. Then it sort of ends up on a rocky path, then it slowly comes back. I won't go more in detail because of spoilers, but I wasn't fully satisfied with the resolution of some issues.

Still, the manga is supposed to be more on the light and funny side than angst, so I suppose that has to be expected.
