Violet Evergarden : Eternity and the Auto memory doll is sadly, from the bottom of my heart I hate to say this even after what happened with kyoani, but its underwhelming, it is on par with the show but doesn't surpasses the show, there are even episodes that in less time managed to build a character and make me even cry for their stories which is why i loved the show in the first place, this could have been just another episode really, but as a standalone product it is inferior, the visuals, I think they are even better than the one's seen in the show, which is a problem for bad strangely, the visuals are too beautiful for what the story is, which is sad, and some people expressed this discomfort with the show originally, but in this case is worse because they are more polished and the story isn't that remarkable, i had a smile here and there but the emotion just wasn't there at last for me, this felt like the medium quality episodes from the show but it was 3 episodes and had too much "anime moments", you know, when characters behave in such an anime way, in ways that are not realistic (that the movie doesn't have to be, bit it's setting is playing in counter of this), coming from the 2 newly introduced characters specially Taylor that is a kid and that might be why. In the end it was still some fresh air to see the characters again, but my expectations where probably higher than they should have, this is like what Opposing Forces it to Half-life more than a Half-life 2, i think that might be a way for describing it lol

In a different note that is not part of the review.

I still love Kyoani, no one deserves what happened to them, and even if it wasn't what i thought that doesn't mean i didn't enjoy it, to what i have to say thank you to Kyoani not only for this but for every show of them from the past years, they always managed to be a major exponent in the anime world and the real world, they made music clubs popular in Japan, when i first heard this i was surprised, they had a real world effect on people's lifes, from joining a band to trying to fix your life for your past actions, which there are not enough words to describe how incredible it is. They always tried to bring us the best quality of animation they can offer instead of quantity, which manages to show how good something can look like.
