Well to make this brief it pulled me in immediately the premise was intriguing and the first episode was gripping.
That said the more the series progressed the more it slipped.
Music was great and the art was trippy and really sold me on the theme of the show...or so I thought.
Longer version below

In fairness I have not read the source material or seen any alternative material so I don't know what may have been changed.

To be frank the pacing was way to fast and while I would argue it was to it's benefit for possibly half the show as it was gripping and oddly enough gave me FLCL vibes it felt jarring when they are trying to create an emotional build up or show the phycology of a particular character.

The show certainly nose dives about half way through as I really couldn't tell what it was going for anymore. The actions of characters seemed to become less and less believable and the rate at which certain events occurred and escalated made it feel akin to watching a Sam Raimi movie (looking at you Spiderman).

Now below may be a bit spoiler infested....THE ENDING...(SPOILERS)

Well it seemed like they were impersonating N.G.E and by god did this episode take after that finally. As stated before I have no knowledge of the source material so I don't know what they were working with but it seemed to drop everything about it's characters for shock factor and an edgy ending with no real point to it. For me it failed to deliver the catharsis of N.G.E (probably due to pacing issue) and it just felt pointless...

I suppose some may argue that was the purpose of the show but when you've been fed what you believed to be something more akin to a social commentary and someone fired a nuke before the story was ready for it.
If the purpose was to portray the "devil" in people and the affect on society and how we should change then it fell short by a long way when it failed to show any solution other than give up and burn it to the ground. It simply gave a messed up society and blew it up.
While this is obviously a Biblical reference as told in the show the warning is pointless when there is no-one left to preach to...

Overall I honestly did enjoy the show but I feel like the ending it provided was lacking and I secretly hope this is a new NGE and that it gets remade. If anyone got something out of it that I missed then I am glad and I hope you enjoyed the show.
