It goes against policy but the top review for this anime is one that is biased on personal feelings. That is why I have decided to write my first review ever, based on default objective criteria:
Story: Original, interesting, fresh, gripping, leaving you wanting more of it after every episode. With all the recycled shounen and highschool anime that have come out over the past few years the story of A Promised Neverland sticks out like me at a social occasion.
The story has a lot of plot-twists, cliff-hangers, mind-poppers and "I knew it" moments. These kind of things tend to attract plotholes and unfortunately that is also what happened in this anime, that having said: 8/10
Art: It is the quality that you may expect from a 2019 anime. I didn't find it especially stunning but I have seen a lot worse, slightly above average. 8/10
Sound: Any thriller/horror/psychological expert will tell you that sound is consequential for delivering a good scene. Luckily, the team responsible for that knew this and the sound is great. Adding to this is "Isabella's lullaby" which kicks in at the right moment every time. 9/10
Character: The characters are "Okay". Starting from the very first episode the anime makes it very clear who the main characters are and what their biggest personality traits are. The following episode(s) only emphasize these traits even more. There are some flashbacks, foreshadowing and dialogue to further add to the characterization but nothing special. It's easy characterization but it works. 7/10
Enjoyment: Enjoyment is the only thing a person cannot rate in an unbiased manner. Enjoyment might as well be the "overall" score. This anime has kept me on the edge of my chair for 12 episodes long and I have binged it all in one go, the enjoyment rate was high for me so I gave it a 10, same as the overall score. 10/10
I hope that you have enjoyed reading my very first review. Expect more to come in the future.
