I watched this anime because a friend pointed out how much he like it. I was thinking that I was really going to enjoy myself here and probably with high hopes set this anime up for failure.
Story [5]: The story is OK. Heavy politics in the first like 7 episodes and you really have to keep track of everyone and their names (there are a lot of supporting cast members and they all have a small story - seriously) or you are going to get confused with the nuances of this anime. My main problem with this anime, aside from the supporting cast getting SO much screen time, was that this anime had a SERIOUS tone to it. I was confused with how serious it was (8 episodes of politics - really?) and how fallible its main protagonists were. It took a lot of time build these Gundams and you throw away your big ideal on teenagers with conflicting pasts?? Im not going to spoil the show, so I will keep it vague; Setsuna and all the other original gundam pilots were NUTJOBS! And you mean to tell me that the ideal of restoring the world through intervention rests on this cast? I mean it was so unbelievable to the point that I had to shut off my emotions to it or I was going to get pissed. I can watch other big shows like naruto, bleach, one piece, yuyu hakusho, and understand that they are shounen and never took themselves so serious, thus you can watch the show with a non-critical eye. I could not watch this anime without a non critical eye due to how realistic they made it thus it gets a 6, actually a 5 now for me.
Art - sound - characters - good
Enjoyment (4) - It was decent, I was able to finish, but it was a drag. Very bias opinion here: I did not like the action scenes!! At first I was thinking maybe mecha anime isnt for me but then I remember G Gundam and there action scenes were great!
Overall (5) - I was contemplating watching the second season just because I don't like to stop animes halfway but I dont think Im up for putting myself through another 25 episodes. Goodbye 00
