The animation does little justice to the actual manga. This art style isn't capable of carrying emotion the way Sakurai's artwork did. I wasn't able to feel the suspense or fear as I did whilst reading Ajin. Quite frankly, this felt like a joke of an anime and repelled people from the beauty that Ajin is.
The horror that the antagonists once brought felt like a flop, their mind games were hardly surprising, and although this 3D art style works for some anime, it most definitely did not work for Ajin. Looking back at watched episodes, it feels like a project for a high school animation class. The IBM are reminiscent of mummies in old Scooby Doo cartoons.
This is just very, very disappointing and saddens me that it went down like this.
