*Major spoilers ahead.*
Sorry for any mistakes. English is not my native language.
I recently decided to see 5 Centimeters Per Second and when I finished it, I wondered, "That's all!?". Seriously, I expected a lot more from this movie.
The first part is certainly very beautiful. Two people who share the same feeling, having to distance themselves from each other, communicating only by letters. A simple boy doing everything he can to meet the person he loves. And with all the unforeseen things that happen, they can find themselves, even for a short time.
My big problem is with the second part, was introduced a girl who loves the protagonist (yes, this seems well cliche) a character totally unnecessary and that does not add to anything the film. Meanwhile, Akari hardly appears in the 3 parts of the film. Basically the second part is composed of boring dialogues with a weak drama and the introduction of a character that does not add to anything.
Finally we reached the third part or the "conclusion" of 5 Centimeters Per Second. A few years have passed since Part 2, showing quickly how Akari and Takaki are following their lives. Yes, that's pretty much it.
The film has a beautiful art and a good soundtrack, but I don't think it saves you from your weak narrative.

[PT-BR] Version
* Grandes spoilers à frente. *
