JoJo for me was pretty good. I think it is important to mention that I found the second part a lot better than the first. If I were to rate the second part of the anime (episode 9-26 i believe?) I would give it a 9, but since the first part is included (which I would rate around a 7 or maybe 6) it averages to around the score I've given overall, 8. Its just that the first part of the story was really boring for me, and it almost made me quit watching the show, if not for the many reviews saying it is worth getting past.

So onto the story. I think the execution was very good, where we see for the first part Johnathan, and we think to ourselves, "oh, this whole show will be about Johnathan and his rivalry with dio". But then the show says "sike" and then all of a sudden transitions. Through Johnathan's experiences, the second part covers how his legacy carries onto his son Joseph. I loved Joseph as a character, since he would always get into tricky situations but manage to get out of them by the hair of his teeth every time. It really made the show fun to watch. Also the whole thing with Lisa Lisa and her true relationship to Joseph. I never expected it and when it was revealed, I was genuinely surprised.

I think along those lines, a strong suit of the show is that you are never really stuck on one main character and his/her struggles. Throughout the show you get lots of characters who each go through their own phase of coming to stand against their fears. For instance in the beginning you have Zeppeli who finally makes his stand against the mask. Then you have Speedwagon, and then the Germans with the creation of Santana, and then Joseph arrives with his problems, and then Caesar, and Lisa Lisa, so on so forth. You're never sticking with one character in this show, rather many characters develop and you get to see everybody come to terms with their problems. So in a sense, you never really get bored.

At first I disliked the manly, extreme style of art that Jojo was drawn in, but I eventually came to like it and appreciate the work put in behind the animation. Although its not my favorite art style, I can respect it. Lots of flashy colors and contrasts made the fight scenes that more powerful. The sound for me was great as well, and it really helped add to the effect of the anime. I liked the really loud, dare I say ear-rape like bang noises whenever one of the characters used an ripple overdrive or got hit by something, just really unique stuff overall.

TLDR: First part 6.5/10, second part 9/10, overall 8/10.

Thanks for reading!
