Amazing series, with amazing pacing, animation (especially the epic sakuga fight scenes, those are my highlights of the year, no doubt), I do have to say though, during those sakuga, the detail was substantially lower, and even though the fight scenes were epic and incredibly fluent, the actual graphical fidelity suffered.
The story basically just picks up where it left off, bringing the old characters didn't feel forced or out of place, I actually liked that, makes the series seem more authentic. Didn't shy away from slowing down the story a bit in order to give plenty time to expand on supporting characters motivations and origins. Fucking hell body improvement club is the best thing about this whole series. Had great philosophy and character progression, and the comedy was spot on.
Now, the reason why I can't rate this a 10, is because the show relied heavily on supporting characters coming to the aid of Mob or whoever was in trouble at just the right time, and if not that then figuring out the weak points of a given antagonist. It was bad enough having the gimmick of the show being the ultimate fuck you to any overpowered villains, but I could make a fucking excel document with how many times they used this. I was very annoyed by this.
Other than that, the deeper monologues and thoughts did make me reflect on my life a lot, made me reconsider a lot of the things, I'm sure the ones who have watched it will now what I'm talking about. And for me, if something as simple as a high production value cartoon from a completely different culture to mine can make me change myself or at the very least pushes me to reconsider some things, it's absolutely worth a recommendation and again, I would rank it a 10 if not for some minor plot holes and nit picks with the animation.
So in the end, a great ride from start to finish, with minor inconsistencies, but it more than makes up for those with a well thought out direction for the story. A solid 9.
