Mixed Feelings
what is justice? what is the line that separates the 'good' & the 'bad'? what is truth, how much impact does it put on a society, and how does one deal with it? do you take it upon yourself to deal with it as a prisoner of a system that governs the world or do you stray off the 'intended' path & take a matter into your own hands, like a lone wolf, even though there are consequences that follow? common questions presented by a series that might be just as common.

psycho-pass is your run-of-the-mill dark-themed series but with a futuristic twist. it's not a society that runs a country by themselves, it's a system that governs the society instead, interesting concept. there's a person who believes in justice and wishes to uphold it but when she gets paired along with veteran subordinates & starts discovering the truth of the system that served both as a guidebook & scanbot for the world in the 22nd century, she starts questioning what justice truly is & whether it can be upheld or not with a system that might or might not be faulty itself. tl;dr - nothing out of the ordinary but not utterly unsatisfying, which can depend from person to person in a way, but some events did drag out the series and feel irrelevant to the plot at times.

the art can pass for its time but it could've been better, it's shallow.

there is nothing special about the soundtrack, if i can be blunt. it's just there when things happen and it is not outstanding by any means.

the characters are nothing out of the ordinary. a female mc who appears to be naive but has a strong sense of righteousness & justice, doesn't really have any background prior to joining the bureau and has only one instance in which you could say her character was developed, which is rather sudden & happens in a very short time, and i don't mean it in a good way. otherwise, she's just the type who tags along. the male mc is the lone wolf of the series, has some background and just does what he wants most of the time. he is usually the center of this series due to his ability and background and has a score to settle with the man who turned him into what he is now. the antagonist of this series is a peculiar character. charismatic & intelligent individual who is probably the best character of the series, logically. overall, nothing grand. everyone's shallow except for the antagonist.

i can't say for sure whether i've enjoyed this series or not. i've had somewhat high expectations for it since it is the majority of mal community's sweetheart in the police/psychological genre, after death note, and it is popular to a degree, but i wasn't utterly annoyed by it because despite its flaws, there is still logic & common sense behind this title, and because of my peaking interest recently i just had to see it to the end. i don't know whether i'm going to be interested enough to follow it up with season 2 though.

overall, this show could've been a lot better if not for the unnecessary plot drag in the later episodes, the characters that were shallow and weren't portrayed with enough feeling and realism as possible and the amount of plot devices involved.
