*No Spoiler Concise Review*
TL;DR: D&D meets cringe-fest featuring your fav neighbourhood hero, Sir Goblin Slayer; protecting every potential rape victim by slaying one Goblin at a time.

What is Goblin Slayer? What isn't Goblin Slayer. Do you like Goblins? Do you like slaying Goblins? Do you like plot? Lots and lots of plot? Even if they are tainted and viewers discretion is always advised? Even if you answered no for all, guess what, you are itching to still watch this show because you saw some vague trailer about a cool hero slaying goblins and you heard of the famous "rape" scene. You know you are intrigued and you just want validation to watch this cringefest. So I'll not waste your time, by giving you a brief overview of this show so you can finally get on with watching this anime.

This anime starts off well. Even though people lost their pants over the first episode because it was too "edgy" for them to handle, the premise was simple and straightforward. The man sees goblins. The man kills goblins. How can this show even progress? It can't. The story sort of continue for a bit then just crashed and burned as viewers had to sit through "plot" after "plot" instead of actual plot. Even the ending was infuriating. It tried to build it up by giving a small back-up side OVA as a recap to jog your memory but it still failed. Btw, when an anime can give a recap episode, 10 episodes in, you know just how much "plot" this anime contains. Regardless, if it's "plot" you are after, watch on.

Now the characters on the other hand, aside from Goblin Slayer, everyone else just seems like your generic side characters. Most of the girls were introduced as different deres because later on they fight to be part of his "harem." The other adventurers just blended in altogether. If Goblin Slayer's entourage didn't have physical characteristics as tails, pointy ears or being a dwarf, you wouldn't even know they exist. That's how generic all the characters were in this show. No purpose, no goals, just slaying goblins and drinking fire wine.

Aside from the "plot" and one dimensional characters, the art and animation, despite being CG from time to time, was not bad overall. Sure they made Goblin Slayer's fight sequences pretty badass but aside from that nothing stood out. The opening song and ending song was alright and in the beginning Goblin Slayer had a nice hard metal entrance song. However, that too faded with time as you get accustomed to it. Nothing stands out and that's the sad reality of this show.

Overall, I personally was hyped to watch this show. It's a fun show to watch with your buddies and just laugh about it. However, if you are watching it alone, then let's pray on the god of dice that you have a peaceful sleep. I would not re-watch this anime and I'm quite perplexed that this anime is even getting a second season. I guess "plot" and "edge-factor" can do wonders for a cringefest anime in this day and age. Let's give everyone a sequel. Anyways, give it a watch and tell me later how Goblin Slayer slayed goblins in your dreams. ;)

P.S. Thank you for reading. I hope you found this short and supaishi review helpful!
