I'm really big fan of boxing anime. My favorite was Ganbare Genki When i heard that they are doing something special about Ashita no Joe's 50 years anniversary i was really interested about the project.

Megalo Box is something like a re-creation of the 50 year old anime but the story is told in a different modernised way. (The same way as Devilman Crybaby)

Story (7/10)
The story looks like normal shounen anime where to main characters "win" in the end. The main character (Joe) is fighting all kinds of opponents and manages to defeat them very easy. There is even that rival part syndrome where he is doing everything he can to complete the promise he made with one of the characters (Naruto/Sasuke)

There are a lot differences between the old (Ashita no Joe) and Megalo Box but there is one big difference that didn't make me like the anime at all.
While Ashita no Joe was more of a psychological (Seinen) anime Megalo Box failed to make it look like a seinen anime and just showed us how guys fight with robot arms...

Art/Sound (10/10)
The art style was magnificent and there is nothing more i would want from it. It had all kind of details including shadows and so on.

The music is probably one of the best this season and i really enjoyed Joe's fighting theme.

Characters: (8/10) About the characters we can talk a lot about them. Every character has unique personality and goes to a different character development while in Ashita no Joe there wasn't this big character development and was mostly focused on the main character.

Enjoyment:
I really enjoyed the art the sound and the characters but i didn't enjoyed it that much. It's just that i wasn't expecting the anime to have so good ending. I was prepared for something worse and was a little disappointed when it didn't happen.

Overall:
I really like the anime and if you are new to sport/boxing anime this is probably the best anime for you. It has very good art/sound and i would highly recommend it for beginners.
