Overall this anime is definitely an anime with high potential. The anime isn't tagged as a Romance genre because the show doesn't focus on romance and is more plot focus. It does have small bits of romance, but in a high school environment that is to be expected. It's different from a typical school genre anime, and focuses on some pretty deep stuff and how the real world of adulthood works. I highly recommend it. The art is top notch and characters are pretty interesting. I honestly can't really see how anyone could dismiss this anime and say it's bad. I guess the less experience viewers may not appreciate it for it's complex plot. An anime that makes you really interested in knowing more about the MC is definitely a successful anime. :)
