To be honest, this was probably my least favorite region in the anime. I think that too much time was spent on Ash-Greninja (which didn't even go anywhere), time that could have been spent on some much-needed character development (I'm looking at you Serena!), or something more involving the Gen 3 remakes. For Fire Red and Leaf Green, there was a whole season with Ash going back to Kanto, for Heart Gold and Soul Silver, there were a few episodes in which people from Johto join Ash & crew, but for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the most we get are the Pikachu costumes, which are incorporated into only one episode and a cameo in the Hoopa movie. I also think Ash acts very out of character throughout the series. He acts way too mature for Ash, and loses his goofiness. The kind of crazy antics that go on in the other series (see the Sinnoh episode Where No Togepi Has Gone Before! to get an idea of what I mean) is virtually absent, and in Pokémon Performances, the competitors are all girls, and the tasks are all "girly" things, like baking and fashion designing. I also think Serena needs to get a life, and realize that Ash's density is that of cement, and he doesn't have that kind of romantic attatchment to her, or anybody, really. Serena's personality in general left something to be desired; she loves fashion, hates getting dirty, and doesn't think her Mom is cool. I wish she wasn't so... stereotypically girly. I did enjoy Clemont and Bonnie, and I wish more was done with them. So, overall, I think Kalos could have been executed much better.
